#podcast 🎼 Tom Johnson (1939-2024) was an American minimalist composer whose music drew on numerical and logical systems. A former student of Morton Feldman, his approach differs from Feldman’s freedom and the repetition of contemporaries like Terry Riley and Steve Reich.
In "Chord Catalogue" (1985), the pianist plays all 8,178 possible chords within one octave.
