  1. There are many valid reasons why someone may not have an official diagnosis for their neurodivergence, disability or other condition. It may be that it's inaccessible to them due to the process being too expensive, it may not be available in the city, state or country they live in, or it may not be something someone feels they want on their medical records, in case of discrimination etc. While (*of course*) people should be very careful and do a lot of research before any self-diagnosis, gate-keeping so that "only medically officially diagnosed" people can access assistance, community/support groups etc prevents people who need support from getting it, and often adds to feelings of shame, helplessness etc rather than helping to empower people in their own journeys.
