3/3 so the cooperation we require to end climate change is not the cooperation of hierarchy that built cathedrals or other institutions to demonstrate power. We need the cooperation of mediation, peacemakers, women, minorities everywhere. We find love of children, inclusion of gender, equality of all cultures and faiths is our equipment in this fight. It is about powerless voices finding a way to permanently & effectively influence power. And then we need to write laws which curb the personal and national accrual of resources which in turn increases climate change. This isn’t as glib as to say the west is the problem or billionaires are the problem, the problem has created the Western world as we know it, the problem has created billionaires as humans race to secure as much planetary resources as they can for themselves. The problem is an ethical one, it is as old as the ages, and it is selfishness.
We can do this, but we need to let go the war/sport/construction lens of victory and share the future, starting with ourselves, starting with personal choice, and working outwards like a net of ecological respect and interpersonal dignity.
We need to let go greed, to let go victory, and to embrace the possibility of a bearable future. This is the human cooperation that is required. It isn’t easy, but it is possible.
