Still not a lot of specifics about funding levels ESA members agreed to at #CM22 (including some confusion about just how much some countries are contributing) but, despite falling short of its €18.5B goal, ESA consider it a success. https://spacenews.com/esa-secures-16-9-billion-euros-at-ministerial/

Europe has a space budget and moving forward with its Mars rover!
RT @BBCAmos:
Deal is done. Applause coming from #CM22 hall. I’m hearing that @esa is going to commit €639m to the EUs secure connectivity constellation. It’s moving forward.(See thread for details:)

All the 17 ESA #astronauts announced today - career or reserve - in one long thread: https://twitter.com/esa/status/1595427343480377344 (amongst the reserve astronauts are two Germans, both women). Meanwhile the outcome of #CM22 is discussed in detail in the press release https://www.esa.int/About_Us/Corporate_news/Ministers_back_ESA_s_bold_ambitions_for_space_with_record_17_rise

More numbers from ESA #CM22 ... and only now do I notice that the meeting's logo - https://twitter.com/esa/status/1595409011754639362 - which is also the stage background now is based on a poorly tracked sky image: anyone know the deeper meaning of this is?

And here is the outcome of ESA #CM22 - from the press conference streaming at https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/ESA_Web_TV

And the ESA #CM22 press conference is finally getting underway; it will be followed by the astronaut class announcement.

Another delay of the #CM22 presser: https://twitter.com/esa/status/1595409011754639362. But some good news has already filtered out, esp. for Mars: https://twitter.com/BBCAmos/status/1595402742016638976

The press briefing for the ESA Ministerial Council #CM22 has been delayed an hour according to the ESA TV website. Now at 14:30 CET. So the astronaut class announcement presumable is similarly delayed: https://twitter.com/SpcPlcyOnline/status/1595394080908771328. In any case the channel is https://www.esa.int/ESA_Multimedia/ESA_Web_TV

About a year ago, with the help of #ESA, I partially answered that question by becoming an #astronot. Misspelling the name of the Director General Dr. Aschbacher absolutely did not do the trick.
Congrats to all new candidates of #ESA astronaut class of 2022 who will be officially announced today 👌👌👌!

Europe seems hell bent to ruin #DarkSkiesForAll. First their own sat constellation "for security", now solar farms in space?! Can we think of yet another way to screw up our common natural heritage?
RT @kim_borgen:
Just imagine you could collect solar power, in the order of GWs, and beam it down to the earth's surface. If that works, that would be a game changer for Europe's energy situation, and for humanity - Director General @AschbacherJosef of @esa at the opening of #CM22 on Solaris -

RT @ESA_EO: 🔟reasons why Europe needs #EarthObservation:
2⃣ With about 68 000 km of coast in the EU, sea-level rise is a threat. Thanks to the @CopernicusEU #Sentinel6 mission, we will be able to extend sea-surface height measurements until at least 2030.
