However, the closed social web has also excluded us from the web. We’re just rows in somebody else’s database.

Microsoft is just NOT going to give up on their intranet social media app Engage (formerly Yammer). Now they have introduced "Storylines" in MS Teams, which is just a wrapper for your Engage feed so you don't have to jump over to a separate application.

Pick a name! Yammer was the best one IMO. I guess Engage/Storylines is more professional.
