  1. It’s one message for MAGA-land and the opposite one for Jill Stein voters.

A key part of this scheme, Bannon noted, entails boosting expected Green Party candidate Jill Stein by highlighting oil production under Biden to pull environmentally concerned voters away from him. newrepublic.com/article/180617 #election2024 #climate #ClimateVote #climatecrisis

  2. This is what better looks like:

A manifesto to address climate change. Let’s hold a high bar for all electoral candidates.

  3. Nature in England at risk due to government failures, says environment watchdog theguardian.com/environment/20

Evidently not a priority for Tories.
    Not a Labour priority.

Despite this stark assessment, it seems to me that the risk is underplayed by OEP.

#ClimateVote with @GreenpeaceUK to force the hand of party politics. Let’s make nature a priority in #generalelection.

  4. UK water industry’s ‘urgent’ plan to tackle sewage pollution delayed by four months theguardian.com/environment/20

*Another* 4 months. This isn’t the first delay. Foot dragging all the way to after the election when it’ll be someone else’s problem.

And then there’s underinvestment in flood defences, no progress on low pollution agricultural reform, new houses on flood plains….

We are drowning in our Anthropocene.

Good folk of conscience will #ClimateVote over #dirtywater

  5. Alok Sharma: I won’t back UK government’s oil and gas bill theguardian.com/politics/2024/

    Good lad.

#ClimateVote is inside the tent. Tories want to fight next election on climate action. I say bring it on.

  6. Warmer winters and more flooding will be the norm in the UK, scientists warn theguardian.com/environment/20

    Not new news.

And despite the clear evidence, frequently presented by Mother Nature, the government chooses to fuel the problem with more O&G extraction while systematically denying and underfunding the adaptations required.

It’ll get worse until a climate majority emerges and demands change.

    Next election, #ClimateVote

  7. Chris Skidmore resigns Conservative whip over Sunak’s oil and gas licence plan theguardian.com/politics/2024/

When a Tory MP and ex energy minister resigns on principle due to government anti-climate legislation, you know the game’s gotta be over for Sunak & his oily cronies.

    Gotta #ClimateVote these idiots out.

  8. Labour’s energy advisers warn against watering down £28bn green investment theguardian.com/environment/20

Especially not if he wants to capture the green (climate) vote. It might be the only reason left to vote Labour for many.

  9. @JugglingWithEggs I live in one of those towns and campaign with Greenpeace on #climatevote. 75% of the doors we get an answer from sign up. Most fed up with Tories. They want change, don’t think gov is doing enough and will vote with climate policies at forefront. So momentum is there.
On change, to install an ASHP with (then) £5k grant I’d have to spend another £13k. We can’t afford that and are trapped on gas. I hear it a lot on doorsteps too.

  10. @urlyman thank you. That is very useful and a good formula for me to share at local level.

The essence of Greenpeace’s ‘Climate Vote’ campaign is similar,

    greenpeace.org.uk/take-action/

but working at macro level based on a complete target manifesto. I’m one of the local organisers leading a team going door to door ‘recruiting’ climate voters.

We get 75% uptake door to door, the rest are either deniers or tout Tory party lines. But our Tory MP is a slippery fish.

  11. Labour unlikely to meet its £28bn green pledge at all bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-675

And bang goes another reason to consider them at the ballot box.

Every time Rish! opens a wedge, Kier closes it by moving back alongside him. You couldn’t get a fag paper between them now. The electoral choices in UK are dire. A rush to the lowest denominator on so many issues, including the existential ones.
