Can you see our refrigerator vent?

On 8/8/2026, after we left Dodge City, we drove to Clayton, New Mexico. This was a brand new state for each of us. This was an easy drive; however, Clayton, New Mexico was a very windy place!

We stayed at Coyote Keith’s RV Park. It was here we looked at the shadow of our camper and noticed our refrigerator vent cover on the roof flapping in the wind. We realized that the hail had destroyed this vent cover. Over the next couple of days, I made arrangements for us to get it fixed when we were in Williams, Arizona.

Everybody here is going someplace else.

On 8/9/2026, we drove to KOA in Las Vegas, NM. It was another easy drive with the wind continuing. At times, our drive reminded me of the scene in the movie, “Forest Gump”. You know the one where he is walking in Monument Valley in Utah, and all you see is a ribbon of road in front and behind.

We were told that there are mountain bike trails which can be accessed right from the campground. Because we are not mountain bike riders, that’s all the information we collected.

This KOA gave me a bit of a quandary. The office staff were very friendly. The site was fine. However, the pool was out of service the time we were there – which wasn’t a big deal. The laundry was questionable. After 40 minutes and $2.00 for the dryers, each of our loads were still quite damp. Later, I noticed my socks were not clean. When the office person mentioned it to what was either a manager or the owner, that person made the comment that the dryer dried his clothes. Then he added “Mostly”. He then made the comment that with the amount of use these washer and dryers get, he has to have a repair person in every week. He then left without another word. Didn’t seem like very good customer service.

My quandary was whether to leave a review or not. My experience from writing an ebook and being the co-creator of an app, many people don’t bother to write a good review. However, if something is wrong or if there is anything they don’t like, there is a much higher probability they will write a review. I’ve told myself that I need to make an effort to leave positive reviews, not just ones that “complain about something”. Since I haven’t kept that deal with myself, I didn’t really want to leave the poor review.

This KOA also offered a paid breakfast the following morning. We took advantage of it. It was good; however, they had advertised breakfast burritos on the menu. Guess what. No breakfast burritos. There were scrambled eggs which was also listed on the menu. The number of customers at breakfast was few, so I wouldn’t expect or want them to offer everything and have food get wasted. I just think their advertised menu should reflect that. It wasn’t very expensive – $7.99 per person. And they did have sugar-free syryup. So, there were things to be happy about. In any case, I didn’t write any review. But from me to you – don’t do your laundry there.

After breakfast, on 8/10/2026, we drove to the KOA in Grants, New Mexico. This is where we first began to see the landscape change, and the area was definitely not as windy as the last couple of days. We started seeing mesas and coloring in the rocks.

Look Honey! The ground isn’t flat anymore!

The next morning on 8/11/2026, we had the free breakfast offered at the KOA. It wasn’t much – some pancakes and cereal, but it was free. We brought our own fruit. They also offered a jar of peanut butter, but there was nothing to spread it on. I have been known to eat a spoon of peanut butter, but I did not partake this time.

This KOA also has a trail with some black basalt lava rocks. The trail has some information about the rocks and the area; however, upon arrival it was way too hot for us to be outside anymore than necessary. The next morning,we had a date with another KOA.

This is another campground where everyone is going somewhere else. Going west it was easy to get sunrise pictures every morning. View from the campground in at the Grants KOA.

Our date was with the KOA in Williams, Arizona. The drive into Flagstaff and then Williams was beautiful. I had planned for us to be there for four nights before arriving at our destination in the Grand Canyon. This would allow us to explore a bit and take care of laundry, shopping and any other errands. My next post will be about those four days at the Circle Pines KOA in Williams, Arizona which is located just 58 miles from Mather Campground in Grand Canyon National Park.

  2. Election denier?

#Ossoff said: “You’re here asking for the support of senators to lead America’s intelligence community. We’ve established that you have an obligation to be honest and forthright with this committee and with the American public, but you refuse to answer a simple matter of fact about the 2020 election. Is that right?”

    #Clayton: “No, that’s not right.”

  4. “With Jay #Clayton’s nomination to become director of national intelligence, the Manhattan federal prosecutors he has overseen for the past year are bracing for what’s next.”

I can guarantee you, with the #TrumpRegime record, it will be someone worse — #incompetent & #corrupt whose only quality is #loyalty to Little Lying Donald.
