Then and now: The Wartime Civil Control Authority (WCCA) departure site for Civilian Exclusion Order Number 5: an auto repair shop at 2020 Van Ness in San Francisco. Note the Military Police lounging inside the garage door. This section of Van Ness Avenue has been called “auto row” for over a century.
