Marsha Aizumi, a giant in LGBTQ+ Nikkei circles, has passed. Marsha was the force behind the founding of Okaeri, the first conference for queer Japanese Americans. Okaeri led to groups, books, and many new resources. The positive impact on Christian, Buddhist, and other groups has been immense.

But for some reason, still can't stop watching it even if #DennisQuaid is a #MAGA a$$hole, which makes me sad because #TheRookie (2002) is one of my favorite #baseball #movies too. ☹️
And the thing is, he made a movie about the #Japanese #internment too -- #ComeSeeTheParadise (1990) with #TamilynTomita (who also plays a bit part in The Day After Tomorrow) in which he tries to reunite with his #JapaneseAmerican wife & #Happa daughter while they are still imprisoned in a camp.
So, I really don't get what happened to #Quaid to make him a MAGA & #Drumpf supporter. 🤦♂️

It's made by #MikamiVineyards in #Lodi -- a #JapaneseAmerican wine growing family whose connection with the land pre-dates #WWII & the imprisonment of their AMERICAN family in a #ConcentrationCamp. 🤬

I was in Toronto yesterday, and went to The Beguiling, which may be Toronto's best comic book store, partly because it's not filled with toys/collectables, but also because it has an astonishing breadth and depth of comics and graphic novels and related books/magazines. Anyway, I hadn't been there before, and once I saw what was inside, I asked about a book that I've been wanting to get. And they had a copy!
The book is “Seattle Samurai: A Cartoonist's Perspective of the Japanese American Experience”, by Kelly Goto. I came to know Kelly because she spoke at my conference, Fluxible, many years ago.
Kelly is pretty awesome, and I’m sure that many (all?) of my UX mutuals here know her. Please chime in, friends! 😀📚

I was looking for a *new* open/green space to go explore. I saw the Rose City Cemetery and always thought it strange that it had a gated "Japanese Cemetery", a cemetery within a cemetery. So I searched for "Japanese Cemetery Rose City" and aha, there was a Wiki for it.
After reading it, my interest was further piqued. I clicked on the first reference note.
