Reminds me tangentially, but inescapably, of a remarkable time travel story by James Tiptree, Jr. (Alice Sheldon), "The Man Who Walked Home." (1972). Mind-blowing and heartbreaking.

I finally found the time to listen to another #Clarkesworld story. M. L. Clark keeps surprising me in “Mercy and the Mollusc” in ways that make sense and highlight sorry details that were introduced before. I wouldn't mind reading it again, in particular its beginning, which I originally found somewhat disorienting.

This deceptively simple-seeming short story packs a strong emotional punch. It does so by implying the emotion and never showing it, making a truly strong story. Does anyone in Tucson have any old copies of Analog, Asimov’s science fiction, or clarkesworld print issues that they wouldn’t mind parting with?

I’m taking a science fiction literature course this semester in college and this week we’re expected to read and research a science fiction journal, so I was hoping to get my hands on some print copies to read as I thought that’d be a lot more fun. I also don’t have any money and it’s a little late to order a lot on eBay anyway lol.

“Eater of Worlds” by Jamie Wahls was vaguely familiar. I think I heard it before, but couldn't remember much.
It's a beautiful optimistic post-apocalyptic story.

I re-shuffled my podcast playlist, which put three interesting #Clarkesworld stories back on top:
- “KIT: Some Assembly Required” (Kate Koja and Carter Scholz, surveillance internet AI meets Christopher Marlowe)
- “Without Exile” (Eleanna Castroianni, about refugees and identity)
- “Marshmallows” (D. A. Xiaolin Spires, very Christmas cyberpunk)
