The patrons of Cambridge’s #14thCentury colleges (predecessors of Trinity College, plus Clare, Pembroke, Gonville, Trinity Hall & Corpus) were convinced of universities as a public good, persevering amid war & plague. The #LadyOfClare fought tyranny, & emphasized the importance of community in her statutes for #ClareCollege. Her friend #MarieDeStPol founded Chris Smith’s college, Pembroke. The feast of #CorpusChristi was a favourite of the #14thCentury #LadyOfClare; her household accounts variously record banquets & special dishes. She almost certainly contributed financially to the glorious #LadyChapel at #ElyCathedral - & would have enjoyed hearing the choir of #ClareCollege recording there.

In 2020 we published a 2nd edition of the definitive biography of the #LadyOfClare - & then we learned more about the evolution of her heraldic & visual identity. The skill of the medieval silversmith & the modern stonecarvers was celebrated in a third medium with our project mementos! These were made by Cameron Newham FSA, using photogrammetry, 3D-printing, & handpainting. Tiny medieval treasures & large stone sculptures are both hard to move: these small replicas are a delight!
