  1. As drought scorches England, one farm stays green

As 70% of England faces drought during its hottest summer on record, beef farmer Sam Squier's near 200-acre farm near Chelmsford stays lush thanks to regenerative farming techniques he has practiced for eight years. #News #Reuters #Newsfeed #RegenerativeFarming #England #Drought #UKDrought #SamSquier #Chelmsford #ClimateChange #UKFarming #BritishFarming #AberdeerAngus #HerbalLeys #SoilHealth #ExtremWeather #UKSummer

  2. #RealityTV star Jack Tweed got a 12 month #driving ban for #DUI in #Essex after officers detected #cannabis in his system whilst on the road in #Chelmsford area

He claims this will affect his new job as an #electrician and his recovery - but its not first #DUI charge he's had and stoned workmen are a menace on the roads - although they don't speed and cause big crashes they cause many low speed collisions/scrapes especially when parking or loading/unloading and cost other drivers a lot of money in repairs and raised insurance premiums..

  3. Not an expression of republican sentiment - but a pen cancellation of a #postage #stamp by #RoyalMail #Chelmsford - maybe because the sender used an odd shaped envelope - it is from one of our service users who pays by cheque, they tend to be seniors who still use notepaper and writing cases!

When I worked at RM there were hand stamps for this if the sorting machine didn't auto cancel the stamps. but they have likely been abandoned to save time and costs post privatisation, and RM don't want the stamp being reused, especially at £1.80 a time!

  4. A First Bus double-decker decorated in #Pride colours will be a highlight at #Essex Pride in #Chelmsford on Saturday 20 June. The bus operator, a long-time supporter of the event, will join the celebrations promoting diversity, inclusion and community.

First Bus staff from across Essex will take part in the parade before joining the Pride Bus at Central Park, where Essex Pride will host storytelling sessions and games with Pride-themed prizes.

Essex Pride Chair Garry Ormes said the event provides a safe and inclusive space for #LGBTQ+ people, families and allies. First Bus Essex General Manager Jonathon Hunt said the company is committed to creating a welcoming workplace where everyone can be themselves.

  5. Greater Anglia has installed new anti-trespass measures at stations across #Cambridgeshire, #Essex, #Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk to help prevent people accessing the #railway and reduce the risk of accidents.

The measures include extra fencing, gates and rubber surface deterrents known as witches’ hats, which are designed to stop people reaching the tracks. Work began in January 2026 and was completed in late spring at stations including #Chelmsford, Thetford, Stowmarket and Wymondham.

The project coincides with Rail Safety Week. Greater Anglia’s Safety Director Matt Wakefield said the railway is not a playground and urged anyone who sees trespassers to contact rail staff or call 999/112 in an emergency.

The operator also works with Samaritans, training staff to support vulnerable people and help keep them safe. The measures form part of wider efforts with GBR Anglia partners to improve railway safety.

  8. what seems worrying here is her car had an obvious personalised registration mark - maybe thieves aren't as aware of British popular culture so didn't know who's car it was, but could she have been targeted for being prominent/outspoken?

its possible the car was the main target, but nicking a celebs car surely involves more risk than any other, and Land Rovers aren't exactly uncommon in #Brentwood !

Also the vehicle was later seen in #Chelmsford, which seems like an odd route to take if the thieves didn't want to be detected (there's plenty ANPR/CCTV cameras in Mid / North #Essex and more spare resource of the #Police to look at them!)

  9. From Sunday 8 March, Greater Anglia passengers will be able to use pay-as-you-go contactless ticketing at 20 additional stations, including Beaulieu Park, #Chelmsford, Harlow Town and Stansted Airport. The move will simplify journeys on key commuter and airport routes, allowing travellers to tap in and out with a contactless card, smartphone or smart device. Fares are automatically calculated and capped daily or weekly for #London #travel. The extension forms part of a wider rail industry programme to modernise ticketing, delivered with the Department for #Transport and Transport for London. ✈️💳🚅
