  1. More printing!
These are going to be the covers for the Terra Umida EP album, which will come out June 13th!

These are 12-ink fine art prints on watercolour paper, mostly because I don't have another printer that can do A3 😂

It's the musical counterpart to the comic and will also come as a bundle with the Riso-printed comicbook!

  5. CD printing time! I have found a fun way to do lo-fi transfer printing onto old-school CD-Rs.
Basically I print onto a transparent film for laser printers with an ink-jet. The ink doesn't stick to the film, and can hence be easily transferred to the CD – as can be see in the video.
The result is quite lo-fi and grainy, but very fitting for this project.

  8. The term biochar had not been coined back then, but I wish the experiments outlined in Liebig's 1840 book 'Organic Chemistry in its Application to Agriculture and Physiology' would have generated greater interest starting back in the 19th century. #CDR dn711509.ca.archive.org/0/items/orga...

  9. Centuries of net-negative emissions are required to secure a safe climate future, two studies suggest

Two new studies conclude that stabilizing long-term #climate risks will require sustained net-negative carbon dioxide (#CO2) #emissions for centuries. Approaching the problem from distinct perspectives—legal and technological feasibility on the one hand, and economic optimization under uncertainty on the other—the research converges on a consistent message:

--> reaching net zero is not enough.

Both studies were led by researchers from the Exploratory Modeling of Human-natural Systems Research Group of the #IIASA Advancing Systems Analysis Program and underline that achieving the #ParisAgreement goals will demand durable commitments to large-scale #CarbonDioxide removal (#CDR) extending far beyond current policy timelines.

  14. the controversial proposal of geoengineering, in this case the use of iron-based fertilization of our ocean, has recently re-surfaced with a new call for limited tests at identified sites around the world. > journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.11

paragraph 3 of its introduction, summarizes the actual intent of this proposal.

  15. Carbon dioxide removal requires careful site selection to avoid harm to #biodiversity, a new study shows. At the same time, the researchers find that the cooling effects of #CDR can benefit biodiversity.

The analysis shows that in ambitious emissions-reduction scenarios, where global warming temporarily overshoots 1.5°C before returning to it by 2100, up to 13 percent of land allocated to #CDR could overlap with areas of high biodiversity value.

  35. We just finished the #GlobalCarbonBudget workshop. Three intensive days (online for me) of learning new research insights on #CarbonSinks, land and ocean carbon cycle, #CDR, methodologies to track #carbon in the #EarthSystem, atmospheric inversions, carbon cycle predictions.

This, initially a purely academic project, is building profile and reaching out to wider audiences.
Thanks to organizers @pfriedling Pep Canadell and everyone involved!

  36. There is an argument to be made that XDR, despite gathering ever-more telemetry, can't be the silver-bullet detection/response solution. There's just too much domain-specific knowledge required to sufficiently detect and respond to the plethora of threats.

Thus, the rise of domain-specific detect/response tools such as cloud (CDR), Identity (ITDR), and now application or ADR.

Miggo Security raised $7.5M seed funding for an ADR system that helps organizations address attacks with in-application context into runtime transactions and behaviors.

  37. It's taken me almost a year to write (and edit) my rant about categories and acronyms in cybersecurity. Which acronyms or categories annoy you the most? Security teams don't need more tools, they need efficient ways to mitigate risk and respond quickly to threats or attacks - especially now to keep up with faster development cycles.
