We could do two, one posthumous and one alive. I'm not opposed to doing more but people got burned out doing #cccma so I'm loathe to do too much.

One of the major goals of the CC CMA was to promote music from places where the scene is not as big, and of course doing one a year limits that but I also learned recently that not everyone in the community knows that Nine Inch Nails put out two CC albums so maybe I focus too much on the obscure.

@bsots @wjmaggos no, that wasn't it. it was a thought that crossed my mind but wasn't the thing I wanted to bring up.

That was actually whether or not we wanted to have #NLorY be essentially a HoF induction. That's what we did with the #cccma for the regional winners. Basically, let's say Jumpsuit wins this year. Jumpsuit couldn't win again in the future.

Which is not to say they couldn't win other awards if we introduce them, just not NLotY.

When I announced this privately to a few folks this morning, I was thinking just USA, but in writing the blog, I realized there's really no reason to exclude Canada.

I didn't talk about this in the blog but back when I started #cccma my goal was to have local awards in all 50 states. I hope we're able to grow enough such that having a separate org for Canada makes sense. it's a long way from Halifax to Vancouver. Musicians probably need a lot of help touring. #ccmusic

blog post was going to go into more depth but I can't help but think we really didn't get anywhere yesterday. Sure, we agreed on some important points. Mike's going to design a logo. We're going to keep the #cccma alive.

But the fundamental issues still remain.

I've largely thought of the org as a UN of #ccmusic. I even call myself the Secretary General in my email signature. Not just the General Assembly but sending resources to troubled areas (in this case maybe that's troubled projects)

the last few years I've been in the middle of the finals days of the #cccma on #iwd but maybe we should do something for it. of course the problem is it's not really ideal for a bunch of dudes to be planning an international women's day event.

I suppose just because it's been a problem for 15 years doesn't mean it isn't worth trying to solve but Ive invited Kara and Emily to events. I really just don't know what to do. #dei

Does anyone have a suggestion for a platform for running the @friendsofccmusic global election (and possibly US election) on July 13? For #cccma I have always used Google Forms, but the judges have also been a specific set of folks, and I want as many people to vote as are willing for the elections.

@wjmaggos there's no one talk to. look who showed up. We've had this problem with #cccma for years. musicians are busy making music. podcasters are busy podcasting. netlabel curators are busy curating. people may want to be involved, but it's not going to happen.

that said, we can focus on Netlabel Day this year and see if that brings anyone to the fold.

@wjmaggos very much have my doubts this will last more than a season but you never know if you don't try. plus, I'd already planned to split the season into a July-Thanksgiving session and then a February-March winners/nominees show where I interview #cccma winners and nominees (and probably judges too)

@gaffen I do wonder what the audience for something like that is. I kinda feel like niche is king. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to do something like that as an experiment in Season 2 of the #cccma show

in the past, when I have had to take over the #cccma due to judges bailing at the last moment, I have tried to keep some thought about the mainstream #ccmusic audience, but that shit is not going to happen this year. It's going to be dark and weird as fuck if I get involved. #sorrynotsorry
