Yoshi got her first brushing of the year, and another clump of cat hair added to the #CatHairFelt bucket.

I still plan on making a #CatFeltHat at some point. I haven't gotten around to actual felting yet.

I've been slacking on my #CatHairFelt / #CatFeltHat project. 🐈

I'm still putting cat hair clumps in the buckets, and I keep thinking they can't hold any more, but they always do.

The cats rarely come by for brushing anymore, other than Yoshi, and she leaves before I can finish.

I've got plenty of large bubbled and small bubbled bubble wrap. In theory I have enough cat hair to make a sheet of felt, but there it is.

Unfelted.

I'm going to [try to] make felt from the cat hair.

I want a thick felt, because the end goal is to make a hat, like a fedora, or "aussie bush hat," or whatever. A #CatFeltHat.

I'm thinking the different colors cat für will give it a cool "camouflage" pattern.

This is entirely different from the hat that I want to make out of Yoshi One-Eye herself when she dies. 🤣 The hat with one glass eye. 🐈

My #StuffingParty is constantly being interrupted! 🤣 First, #PharaohSchoko, who is still "trapped" in the house, now DHL!

Wind resistant ashtrays hath arriven, and are immediately set to use.

Bonus, I was going to need a large section of bubble wrap when I start felting on the #CatFeltHat project.

I know about the felting (see #CatFeltHat). I was wondering about yarn specifically. Every time I try by hand, I get little limp sausage-like affairs that fall apart if you look at it too hard.

I have buckets of cat hair that I've been saving. I was/am planning to make a #CatFeltHat, because I couldn't spin it by hand into anything resembling wool.

If you have that capability, I would rather have a pair of "cat hair wool itchy socks from hell" than a hat made from #CatHairFelt! 🤣

A modest haul of cat hair tonight.

There haven't been any buckets of our brand of tobacco at the store lately, so the current buckets are getting overfull. There are no backup buckets, I had delivered our empty buckets & lids to the animal shelter a few weeks back.

Bucket two is now full. I know it can hold more if I bother to squish it down, but whatever.... I've got buckets coming out my ass, even though I just delivered 50 or so to the animal shelter.

With the next brushing, I shall start bucket № 3.

For comparison, after Emma left, Pussy Galore came over and wanted cuddles and a brushing. Here's what came off Pussy.

Oh well. Every little bit helps, and it pleases me that there are contributions from all three.

The reason I was playing with #EmmaPeel and the camera is that she's turning out to be quite the shedder, producing copious brushfulls of dark fur for the #CatHairFelt / #CatFeltHat project.

This bucket will probably be full by the end of the month.

Even #PussyGalore is coming to enjoy being brushed, though she doesn't produce much hair.

Tonight's haul of cat hair from Yoshi One-Eye. I decided to weigh it. 2g of cat hair! The second bucket is getting fuller.

I'm still torn on if this falls under #CatsOfMastodon / #Caturday or not. It IS cat hair from our cats, after all.

Crikey! The 2nd bucket is getting pretty full, too! It still feels like I "just started it." With the 2 buckets side by side, one can kinda see the "camouflage" pattern I hope to incorporate.🐈 Soon there'll be a 3rd bucket joining the stack.

I want a thickish felt when I start making the hat proper. 🎩

I'm hoping the dark tufts from Emma Peel, which are easily distinguishable in the bucket, form a pseudo "camouflage" pattern.

Another handful of cat hair for the #CatHairFelt / #CatFeltHat project.

For those unfamiliar, I was considering spinning cat hair into wool, and making an itchy sweater from hell.

Initial attempts at spinning produced something that vaguely resembled wool, but fell apart under any kind of strain.

Someone (@CraftyJo?) suggested felting. Research indicates it's doable with cat hair.

So I decided to make a #CatFeltHat; a mishmash of Aussie, Cowboy, & Wizard hats. Out of #CatHairFelt.

Not much of a haul tonight.

Another small batch of cat hair from #YoshiOneEye for the #CatHairFelt / #CatFeltHat project.

This is the 2nd bucket filling. The dark patches are from #EmmaPeel.

I figure three buckets should give me enough material, I want a thickish felt. Which means I have a long way to go yet.

EDIT: it took roughly 100 days to fill the first bucket.

Pussy came by, and submitted to a rare brushing; I actually got a small tuft of hair from Ms Galore!
