  1. 🫤 Well this is simply creepy ! 🧟

Some ideas in this article are worse than the headline.

Anyone who has hope is deceiving themselves. What is coming is full blown disaster capitalism. And it will exclude all Palestinian voices.

In a reversal, the agency plans to calculate only the cost to industry when setting pollution limits, and not the monetary value of saving human lives, documents show."

And now you should start reading what Adorno meant with "instrumental reasoning" to understand the logic of #captalism and politics in capitalism.

  4. A fantastic video about how my sister and BIL moved their company to a worker coop. They live in rural Colorado, and are a reason no one should ever think rural USians are a lost cause.

I think it is fantastic that there are organizations to help companies move to the coop model. I know it was rough changing the mindset of some of the employees, some of whom were so used to the boss-->worker relationship it was a serious obstacle to the changeover

  9. I've just had a text from Essex & Suffolk water re a supply interruption. I live in Northumberland, 300 miles away.
What are these bastards doing with our personal details? Sharing them out by the look of things. And then being (predictably) untrustworthy and generally inept with them.

  10. I'm very #ProUnion & would love to get rid of #Captalism but until then, employee-owned cooperatives should be encouraged as much as possible.

I am lucky/privileged enough to work for one now. Beats the hell out of the 10 years I spent at another lab owned by a greedy narcissist.

  11. When we talk about opening up #borders, we mean something completely different to politicians and economists – they are only interested in maintaining the current system. Meanwhile, the status quo will not solve the problems of people on the move. It is its direct cause.

  12. @jockox3

the idea of a country that is patterned by a form of rentier #captalism focussing its #taxation on economic rents, is interesting, but also unlikely - as you said, this potential solution has been off the agenda for over a century, precisely due to the character of the UK's governing elite!

  13. As most developed countries around the world continue to modernise their #transportation infrastructure with passenger rail, countries in North America (and #Strayia ?) have been abandoning #railroads for over a century now, assuming that just one more lane will finally solve their traffic problems.. #captalism #lobbying #fossilfuels #FossilFuelBillionaires #trains #railroads

  14. #Captalism functions by mining the world for inherent value, enclosing it, and then charging rent.

Case in point number 999,912: Registration rights for .org domain names were just purchased by a private equity firm. And existing price caps on registration, which were established in support of the non-profit space that .org represents, were eliminated.

Now the value built up in the 10 million established .org identities out there, can be mined for profit.
