had a roda together with the senzala group; sadly the space was only reserved for 1.5h and the stretches and stuff took probably most of that so the actual roda wasn't too long.. still nice, got hit in my face a few times because i'm not used to playing with people who actually finish the move lol; got to play the instruments a bit
after that we collectively decided to go to our group's place
had a wayyyyy longer roda with a proper buildup in speed and the music sounded much better too; either due to the space being smaller or just because we already had a lot of axé leftover from the previous one. didn't get hit in my face, too! played a total of like 5-6 times across the two rodas.after the roda more or less finished we got pizza, at this point there were only like 8 of us so we just hanged around, then i decided to get the djembe from our training area to the lounge, which ultimately resulted in some half hour or so? of an impromptu jam session with two djembes and a guitar

In the Rookie, Nolan's wife practices and teaches #capoeira.
That is on their wall, and I find it really hilarious, because the only scene I saw in which she is doing capoeria had strong 'beginner with gymnastic background' vibes.
Certainly not professora level as the 'archived' ropes seem to indicate.
Now, I wonder what the actress really is (if she prractices at all).Although, this is a cool display. Mine are just hanging next to my piano.

Déjà le 4ème jour de mon mini festival de capoeira "Catapoeira 2025" en Vendée, c'est la 3ème édition et vraiment je suis super content que ça prenne bien.
Pendant 5 jours c'est 2h de capoeira sur la plage tous les matins et 3h de voile (sur des mini catamaran 2 places) tous les après-midis. Bon ok on est un peu fatigué le soir…
Les élèves (de mon école et d'autres) sont top et ont l'air super content des stage que j'ai préparé et de la voile…

what´s Martial Arts for me - ..in this i could not go by usual normal path.
25 years ago i started from learning how to break. break an arm in three places with one easy move. i learned the mechanics.
now i learn how to not break. to stop just on the edge.my first teacher wore a white belt. he was cool.
He said "belts are commercial, you pay - you get".
i never went for the belts. never had money or wish.
for me the first grade started from 1 dan.
I had no idea that in aikido there are lower ranks.
i thought colourful belts are for karate kids to stay motivated.
how surprised i was to find out. a lot later, suddenly.i started with one style, continued with another one. with lots of other things in between.
mixed with lifting, calisthenics, arm balancing, running, Buddhistic and yoga philosophy.some things took long, left "scars", i´d like to get back.
some things passed casually, just to check how it feels.
aikido, kickboxing, capoeira, bujinkan were the main. and kung fu - in the very beginning.
my basics were aikido yoshinkan for techniques and kung fu for the kicks and punches.
and now when they tell me - go to basics, i don´t know where to go to. my basics happened 25 years ago with the disciplines which i don´t practice anymore.
and in each discipline they think their way is the best.
i saw so many that i don´t care the basics and don´t have it solid.
all my "basics" are broken.
i don´t understand simple things anymore. only complicated..to some things i go back again and again, as stages of time.
but something stays permanent.
wild chaotic mix of styles and disciplines..
often my skills shatter into hundreds of shards... nothing works..
but sometimes, just sometimes.. it goes as smooth like a hypnotic dance.
depends from a partner.and then it feels beautiful.. almost like magic.. magnetic..
the moment.pure stay in the moment...

Je viens d'annuler mon cours de capoeira avec les enfants parce que je me suis retrouvé bloqué dans un RER 20 min car qqn a oublié son sac sur le quai… et un autre zigoto a trouvé que c'était mieux de shooter un grand coup de pied dedans pour éviter qu'il évacue la station… le sac a fini sur les voie et a réussi à bloquer mon RER (mais bordel il y avait quoi dans ce sac ???)
Ça faisait 3 semaines que j'avais pas vu me petits élèves 😭
