Ok, so the latest message I got from Canadian tire actually included alt text in the images!
(Now if they just need to work on timing)
-
Wasn't impressed to get this email yesterday. Apparently, 38.3 million Canadian Tire accounts were breached in October, with very little media coverage and no communication from Canadian Tire itself.
-
@BenjaminHan @WTL #canadianTire FTW! They had two sizes available and I’m glad I got the larger one. It also helps my back after a few hours of sewing…

So, Crappy Tire [1] changed their mind and pleaded guilty to a bunch of violations of Quebec's consumer protection law. Surprising absolutely no one, the charges are largely about advertising items at huge discounts from "regular" prices that the products were never or rarely actually sold at.
https://globalnews.ca/news/11657561/que-canadian-tire-fines/
This is why there's a saying that "If you bought it at Canadian Tire and it wasn't at least 40% off, you got ripped off". The Bay / Hudson Bay is also famous for this kind of BS. Other provinces should also forbid this kind of dishonest manipulation, but they don't.
I wish Canadians wouldn't fall for this kind of marketing crap.
Can I tell you a secret that will save you money?
Crappy Tire sells two types of merchandise:
(1) name-brand stuff like Tupperware or Corning or whatever else
(2) crappy imported Chinesium products [2]You can always get the first category cheaper at Walmart or other places.
And you can always get the latter cheaper from Princess Auto, or even cheaper than that from various online places. It all comes out of the same factories.
There is never a reason to shop at Crappy Tire.
[1] Widely-used nickname for "Canadian Tire".
[2] The sheer amount of imported junk gives rise to the alternate nickname "Cambodian Tire".#CrappyTire #CanadianTire #CambodianTire #Chinesium #ripoff #discount #ConsumerProtection

#CanadianTire told me this morning I should shop on Amazon. Well, indirectly. I bought a heater a few days ago from CT and the flyer that arrived yesterday showed the same heater on sale for 30% off. I spent 30 minutes driving 20km round trip to get the price adjustment and they told me no, that sale price doesn't go into effect until tomorrow even though I was holding the flyer in my hand, and to come back then. What a horrible customer experience.

Just got a fake email claiming Canadian Tire was giving me a free car jack. It's a scam. For one thing, CTC doesn't have that email address; for another CTC is using some lame service that doesn't pass my spam filters, so even the legit stuff doesn't come through.
-
Has #CanadianTire gone completely off the deep end?
Their website seems to have no way to find products anymore? Maybe it's just me. Tried for five minutes and with two diff browsers and they don't seem to offer a search field anywhere?
I'm really not going to browse around your site to find a specific thing I need right now.

🇨🇦 👀 Routine oil change turns into highway hazard after Canadian Tire uses plastic zip ties for repair, says driver😳
Company doesn't answer questions about use of zip ties, but says it offered to pay for repairs
"I lost full control," Jones said. "I did have minor injuries, the seatbelt down around my stomach, I was bloodied and scarred for quite a while, minor headaches and pain across the shoulder, but luckily, I survived a potentially fatal incident."
It turns out, several bolts were missing from the engine splash shield — a plate that protects fragile parts under the car and is often removed during oil changes. Some shields are plastic, but Jones's was metal and he believed it had likely been dragging under the car.
But instead of replacing the bolts, the staff used plastic zip ties to hold the shield in place. Jones says they didn't mention this until he asked — initially saying only that the problem had been fixed.https://www.cbc.ca/news/gopublic/canadian-tire-zip-tie-repair-9.6931461

Canada is the laughingstock of the world when it comes to privacy. The Canadian Tire data breach is likely going to be the latest example.

My mother in law needed a wheelchair last night after her fall, at least to get around 1 level of her home. My local choices on a Friday night.
- Mobility type stores.. All closed until Monday.
- Lending store for this kind of stuff. Closed until Monday.
- Drug stores, apparently don't sell these things anymore, too busy with electronics departments and fad creams I guess.
- Amazon, couple days delivery. The winner, with 2 models, one big wheels and one needs pushing, in stock, and open until 9pm. Marked up a bit much it seems but at least they had it.
Canadian Tire.

This is wild. A dinosaur lawn decoration - which is awesome. But it’s $15,000 CAD.

It has been the final week of the retail business for #HudsonsBay , with both stores in Winnipeg down to selling furniture and fixtures in the remaining few days.
Will be interesting to see what #CanadianTire does with their trademarks in the future. They got a bargain buying it all for 30 001 670$CAN (like the 1670 added on).
The downtown building, which closed as a store in 2020, is presently undergoing a complete transformation into Indigenous-led Wehwehneh Bahgahkinahgohn ("it is visible"). -
It was "originally priced" at $100 million, but they were having a 70% off sale.

Its 2042, there are only two Canadian chains left
Canadian Tire and Dollarama
They are in a fight to the death for customers looking to pay the lowest price for ketchup, toilet paper and random canned foods that you can buy outside of the last remaining grocery store owned by Galen, "No Fucks Given (tm)", where you browse shipping containers of vegetables.
-
The year is 2032, you go to Canadian Tire to visit the in-store sub-brand Hudsons Bay and then into the sub-sub-brand Zellers location which is only 1 shelf of branded products that have no connection except for that mug with the Fields logo on it.
-
Is this the timeline where we end up with 400 years of Canadian Tire.
"Why when our stores first opened it was nothing but a wasteland of parking lots and our lowest prices of the random period we came up with for that flyer, but now in here in 2425 we are proud to announce we finally stopped letting rando hungover kids work on your space cars"
