    It's clearly not a black kite. I don't think it's the first time I see it, but I really don't know the species. If anyone knows, I'm all ears.

  6. No eagles today, but enough #kestrels and #buzzards in the #polder of #Arkemheen. I hadn't seen a buzzard with a white plumage variant before.
    And I wonder if that pigeon paid protection money...

  7. @CStamp @noondlyt I just looked at Wikipedia’s list of birds called #buzzards—it included almost all of the #Buteos whose names I recognize, including #RedTailedHawks, something I never heard growing up in California. OTOH, my mother and many others called the local #TurkeyVultures (Cathartes aura) buzzards or #TurkeyBuzzards.
