More plaster advance today with partner and twins.
We also enchanced our quincha technique by hanging algae with full mix instead of barbotine. It gets more strong from the begining. More work on quincha but way easier to do the plaster and less risk of flying quincha in the process.
Again we forgot about pictures. Will take some tomorrow morning. -
Partner joined today and together advanced a lot on plaster.
We both forgot to take pictures.
Exhausted and happy. -
Not much time today. Did some plaster work. Happy to get a little better at it every day.
-
Came back to plaster so next time we get 3 days with 60km/h wind I won't get nightmares about flying quincha :)
Also, the solar kit arrived!TIL: It's not enough to be the kind of person that keeps a wiki. You also have to READ it. Wasted half of the time today dealing with the wrong plaster proportions.
-
Didn't advanced a lot today. Forecast says it's going to be windy as hell until tuesday. It's going to be an emotionaly hard weekend.
Will try to focus on making bottle briks and rest the body. -
Two almost full rounds today. Realized that it's posible to do more than one branch per round without problems.
-
Partner and twins joined today! So it was an almost two rounds day.
A storm ended the fun earlier but it's ok. -
Back to full round today.
TIL: I work and feel much better and faster by using a bucket as seat. Was foolishly hurting myself in the name of hurry while actually moving slower. -
Didn't finish a round today but almost. I feel it will be faster as it goes higher from the roof. And my back will be gratefull.
Did some bad move dealing with the roof on a preety windy day and now I'm having some back pain. Nothing serious but really uncomfortable. -
Ordered a solar kit last night. Just enough to power some lights and devices. The plan is to build a vertical aerogenerator with savaged parts at some point but don't have time to experiment right now.
-
Done! Just a few details before nylon.
Going back to walls tomorrow.
It's crazy but starts to feel as a home. -
In the afternoon weather got even worst. At least we gathered 3 20lt kubets that will help a lot to mix mortar.
-
Almost there. 40km/h wind isn't helping at all.
-
Another 60k/h wind day. Only build related thing today was trying to buy screws in a store that was closed.
Spring in patagonia is beautyfull but windy as hell. -
After two consecutive 30cº days roof moved to the top of the list.
Yesterday was work untill I had no more wood. Today it was wood buying day.
I hope to finish it tomorrow. Then go back to walls. -
Finished the structure enchancements of the roof and added some tables. It should be done for next weekend.
Also some plaster testing by partner. It works like charm and really fast. We are so happy.TIL: with plaster mixtures, as with any other dough, 15' of rest do magic.
-
Now we are at almost half roof done. Will see how much we can advance it in the afternoon.
-
Did some more roof work today. I think tomorrow the hard part of it will be done. Hope that will let me to move faster.
Also did some interiors planning with partner and realized how we can enchance the inside look of the roof once we are living there with canes.
Much lighter day. Body really needed it. -
Started the day changing a flat tire (not easy with our old, rusty car).
Did some roof work in the morning and another round minus the two front walls in the afternoon. -
Exhausted but finished a second round and a little bit of roof work today.
TIL: fresh algae don't work as expected. Will have to take them in the point they are still large but dehidrated. Good news is that we have all the spectrum in the place I take them from.

Completed first round this morning.
Also brought some larger, fresher algae. Hopefully they'll help to cover more surface each round. Will see If can complete another one in the afternoon. -

Starting to flow :)
If I use thin clay from the center of the pile it disolves fast enough to do the quincha. So, we can move faster with the quincha while bigger chunks soften in water for the plaster.

Today advanced the roof, collected some algae and experimented a little with the clay. It turns out that it's so good that it takes many days in water to disolve it. So I will start with the smaller pieces now and leave the bigger ones for when there's more time to whait.
-
A small storm ruined part of my plans for today. At least managed to carry more wood for the roof just in time.
Can't whait to start building with the red clay.

Friday was a wood moving day. Saturday windy as hell. Today in two hours I made 4 square meters of roof. Seems that we can get it done in about 10 days. Then nylon and we have a working roof. Next step will be to cover it with adobe and pait it with "baba de nopal".
