I think one of my biggest oopsies was installing libraries in the C# world and not realizing that they were trial versions. I had never seen these types of things before.

The libraries didn't do much of anything special, but they were prohibitively expensive.

I ended up pulling a few all-nighters, recreating the library’s functionality to avoid going triple budget.

Mine woukd be Newtonsoft's #JSON .net library.

I had just learned C#, and needed a JSON library. I have used many libraries in the past and had moderate expectations of more of the same.

This library taught me what a JSON libraryr needs to look like. It seemed like magic at the time.

Just been quoted for a 5 foot square porch replacement (tiny boot room attached to house on 2 sides).

Current foundation needs replacing as it isn't level & has no damp proofing.

Quoted us £7.5k for uPVC or brick replacement using current wonky leaky foundation. They kindly pointed out it will be porous.

Sounds terrible. Like a failure of govt to allocate #energy.

Reminds us of the 2009 #PinkBats "Scandal" in #Australia. Our PM #KevinRudd and #PeterGarrett funded as many #builders as possible to install #insulation. It was an incredibly successful #InsulationScheme but #corporateMedia only blame Rudd for the few bad builders that abused the funding, resulting in two worker deaths and some fires.

Aussies save 30% on energy but media focus on bad apples.
