I think my favorite part of the new version of #buildawesome/#11ty is that I keep being able to ditch luxon and other dependencies. Dates used to be a major frustration for me with 11ty but no more.

I just switched a site from #11ty 3.1.6 to #buildawesome alpha for the new Nunjucks async, and I reduced my build time from 55 seconds to 33 seconds, removed 40+ packages, and made 937 deletions in package.json.
I could probably go lower if I ditch the PDF metadata checking, but I keep having PDF issues, so I'm loath to remove it. https://www.adamdjbrett.com/blog/2026-07-05-build-awesome-cloudflare-optimization/

I tried to fork this and make it my own by making the file from scratch without a template, making it so that you can type in your own tags in categories and not choose from a list, and other enhancements, but I am a terrible script creator. Yay!!! :linux: I figured out how to setup my Build Awesome (11ty) dev environment on my Linux laptop using Distrobox and VScodium because I'm using an immutable distro (Bazzite).

Now that I'm starting to understand it, I kinda like having dev things sandboxed more.

Have other web devs noticed a downturn in projects recently? I have. At the start of the year things started feeling a bit off, but the last few weeks I'm seeing very little in the way of leads for both WP and Shopify.

I can understand Shopify to an extent, it's focused around ecommerce and the majority of clients starting out are small or even one person, with a small budget.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now and add to it that AI is becoming a poor alternative for real developers.

The Build Awesome Kickstarter is back up, already hit its goal in less than a day.

I backed it, because I do want to see Leatherman and OSS projects as a whole succeed monetarily and be sustainable. I hope there is an audience for Build Awesome Pro despite my doubts.

That said, seeing one of the main features of Build Awesome be that "Cursor can refactor it, Claude can rewrite it, and your own scripts can manipulate it (safely)." and that "Build Awesome was designed for a world where your agentic assistant is a full contributor" is certainly frustrating and disappointing.

Anyone know of a guide on how to migrate a Build Awesome (11ty) site to Forgejo from GitHub? I somehow got stuck on the SSH auth setup last I tried 😭 I may just need to try again with fresh eyes.
