    Exactly, and the harms absolutely did not stop at slavery in CA.

    Imo a huge improvement of something like reparations to peicemeal, every family for themselves lawsuits, is that it levels the playing field. The families who can bring the sorts of suits like the Bruces were essentially already economic elites. However their workers, who were likely largely Black, aren't compensated.

    Reparations ensures we're all included.

    Compensation for a specific harm to a specific person, with the beneficiaries being the confirmed heirs of those harmed. The paper trail has to be pretty watertight, and the line of succession pretty short, otherwise you generate absurdities trying to unwind the unknowns of history.
