Watching The Mummy Returns while I analyze some data tonight. Lessons I have learned from this movie:
- CGI has really improved in the past 20 years
- I can see why the leads are sometimes cited as "reasons I became bisexual" by folks on tumblr; they are so very beautiful
- With kid actors there's a fine line between adorable and annoying
- Egyptian mythology is super easy, actually; it's just western tropes with hieroglyphs thrown around a bit
- Despite what I learned in school, everyone in ancient Egypt was Caucasian with a nice tan
- Stop The Rock, Stop The Rock, you can't Stop The Rock. Seriously, he's everywhere and you can't escape him
I might be in the minority among pointy-headed intellectuals in enjoying The Rock in pretty much everything I've seen him in. The movie is a fun romp, but I can't help but feel we threw a whole lotta Egyptians under the bus.
