RE: https://mas.to/@etebur/115954188341404298
This was shortlived since they no longer support #Linux and couldn’t even be bothered to announce it to their paying customers. 😒
Their Linux app still works…for now. But it is the principle, honestly.
Does anyone know of any multi-OS (Linux and MacOS) #bookmarking alternatives with a nice UI?

Firefox web browser on an Ubuntu desktop
Why does this take an "app"?
Oh
You're on your phone, of course

I highly suggest #bookmarking this incredibly in-depth, amazing #Educational #resource for #IndigenousFoods of #Canada 👇
Important educational project that's still in progress & continually updated! The #StudentEncyclopedia of Indigenous Foods of Canada is an initiative by agriculture #students at the University of Guelph (Canada) under the supervision of Prof. Manish N. Raizada (Editor) and talented graduate students including from the #FirstNations and #Metis communities. The mission of the Encyclopedia is to share the rich food and agriculture history of the First Nations, Metis and #Inuit peoples of Canada. The #Encyclopedia is written in plain language and targeted at primary and high school students as well as the general public. Editing of the Encyclopedia remains in progress; however, the site has been published to allow early access.

Once I migrated my bookmarks from Delicious to #Pinboard, and it was so good. I really liked Pinboard's minimal approach and paid each year for having them archive all the pages I've ever bookmarked. We're talking 20k+ pages which I've bookmarked over a time of 20+ years; of course, many of the oiriginal websites are no longer online.
Being able to do a full text search through that archive has become such a vital part of my everyday research. I really have buillt my own search engine over the years.
But now, I worry that Pinboard is on the decline. The guy running it doesn't seem to care as much anymore and many times when I bookmark a page, it's not archived (error code: 500).
So I might have to start looking for another #bookmarking service. One which will still archive everything and make it searchable for me. And which will also accept importing the 20k+ existing bookmarks.
Does anything like such an alternative even exist?

Further explorations in #XML / #XSLT aka #PartyLikeIts1999. Two years ago I was inspired by @aparrish taking charge of her #bookmarking:

I swore I would do something similar, and, er, procrastinated. Today I realised I could transform the #RSS feed provided by the Bookmark app for #Nextcloud with some simple XSLT:

For most of my professional life I’ve gladly mixed work and private tools for storing information. I’ve put links to stuff I needed for work into the same del.icio.us and pinboard accounts as just random things I found online and considered worth saving. All my notes were in the same Dropbox directory for NVAlt and things were good. As it was the style of the time : there were whole blogs about knowledge work and how the boundaries between work and personal knowledge are blurring and yadayada.
(We’re not talking specific project information here, by the way – but stuff like: links to tutorials, a collection of code snippets, stuff like that.)
Now for my current workplace I decided to keep these things strictly separate. No personal dropbox on the work machine, no login into personal accounts for emails, wikis, bookmark managers, browser sync accounts, nothing. And frankly: it is tedious. I don’t have a good system yet for stuff. Each of my browsers on my work machine has multiple windows with dozens of tabs. Stuff that I might need some day. Links to articles and tutorials. It’s a mess.
Now I wonder: if you’re someone who keeps these things strictly separate, how do you manage that?

🎉 Behold! The revolutionary idea of "bookmarking" #terminal sessions because clearly, switching windows was just too much work. 🖥️✨ Witness the thrilling saga of reinventing the tab... for your terminal. 🚀 #InnovationOrJustTabs

I've been using @readeck (bookmarking/archiving tool) for the last couple months and I'm a very happy user even after the newness has faded. Today I realized how well it well works for me and wrote a little blog post to share my use case and thoughts!
