A big day for me today.
It's my presentation ceremony this afternoon for my 100 blood donation credits. It's taken me 30+ years to reach this milestone, and on the day I took my first needle I saw it in the distance thinking "I'll never do 100!" and yet I now have an 8 bit "legend of Zelda" style tattoo just below my usual donation point to commemorate the event (which actually happened last May)
I suspect there will be photos.

1 of 3: Passed by the Japanese Cultural Centre today on my way to drop off hospice donations and saw a mobile blood drive.
I didn't plan to, but I decided to finally donate. Giving your time and your blood is more valuable than giving money. The world needs this kind of service right now.
I booked an appointment online just an hour before I showed up to check my eligibility. I am a 1st-time donor, and the process was quick and easy.
Before I gave blood, the nurse pricked my finger. My hemoglobin score was 147. She told me that was very good. If your score is 120 or lower, you cannot donate because your body does not have enough "Oxygen-Carrying Voltage" (anemia). I felt grateful that my body is strong enough to give.

Despite being short-staffed, the NHS Blood Donation team was friendly and professional. As always, it was a positive experience 🅰️➕️

At work we started talking about whether other animals have different blood groups and where vets get blood supplies for operations.
Turns out that pets can donate blood. The page linked includes a picture of a pangolin (not sure if giving or receiving).
Also, yes they do have different blood groups.

I was considering become a #blood donor. This is what Canadian Blood Services wanted me to agree to "Reliance on any information provided by Canadian Blood Services appearing on or provided in relation to this Site is solely at your own risk." So, I can't trust that safeguards promised for me as a donor on their site will be honoured. I decided not to donate blood.

I can say I literally bleed for my country. After work I donated blood & the nursing staff gave me & the other donors there a free #toque to help promote #blooddonation. This will be my 34th #wholeblood donation, according to my record with #CanadianBloodServices. I go to the permanent #Yonge & #Bloor site in #Toronto. I dedicate this donation to the recent passings in both my family & my friends' families. It's been a rough start to 2025.
