  1. Last night I used #BeMyAI to help some sided colleagues on holiday to get their air conditioner to work correctly, Understand how to use there dishwasher and how to use the induction cooktop in their holiday rental. All bye just taking photos and asking for the instructions with simple questions. Now I could’ve used #ChatGPT or #Gemini and that’s what I told them they could do in the future. Quicker than Google and solving simple everyday problems. Not rocket science I know but an every day use of AI that some people forget about.
It was a real case of the blind leading the blind!

  2. the new feature on #BeMyAI that allows you to save photos including the description directly on the photos app on IOS is amazing. it's like having a realtime AI camera for taking photos. the only downside of this is, you're not able to take photos on high resolution like the camera app does. but at least, good thing for taking photos for our up coming trip to #Riccione. #Blind #Blindness #BlindPhotography #Photography #AI #Accessibility #BeMyEyes #Italy

  3. Love being able to read and activate a new debit card without any sighted help whatsoever, with the help of the #BeMyAI part of BeMyEyes, then a scan of the chip when adding to wallet. Wish other things were this simple. <sigh>

  4. Five years ago today I released one of my more unusual EP's called Ambiental. It's a strange mix of vocals, sliding noises and long evolving chords. Great for relaxing, meditation, or just to put on in the background and forget about it. Available on all the usual streaming platforms and distributed via #DistroKid. distrokid.com/hyperfollow/andr

  5. I asked her to take a picture so I could share the goodness with you all. Image description courtesy of #BeMyAI because I'm no good at explaining stuffs.

  6. A fabulous tool for all Mastodonners who post pictures: Be My AI.

The software, available for Windows, Android and iPhone takes a picture or image and provides a very detailed description that you can copy into your Alt text (see examples below).

The interface is extremely simple and the program works for art, nature and graphs.

Adding a good Alt text has never been so easy.

  7. In the last two weekends, I've used Be My AI in the Be My Eyes app to set the temperature on my thermostat. #BeMyAI #BeMyEyes #accessibiluty

  8. @cachondo I wonder if Be My AI in the Be My Eyes ap could help with this. #BeMyAI #BeMyEyes #accessibility

  9. I decided to snaffle an image from an email simply called 'image.png' to see what #BeMyAI made of it, and got a pretty comprehensive result. Curious to see whether my sighted compatriots agree with the #AltText?

  10. @cnet #AltText courtesy of #BeMyAI:

The image shows three people standing together indoors, each holding up a badge that says "Media." The person on the left is a woman with long blonde hair, wearing a floral-patterned shirt and a light-colored backpack. The person in the middle is a man with a black headscarf, wearing a gray t-shirt with a graphic of "The Bel-Air Bunch" and holding a camera or some equipment. The person on the right is a woman with bright pink hair, wearing a beige sleeveless dress. The background features a wall with a pattern that looks like a brick wall with small lights embedded in it, and there are other people in the background, some of whom are also wearing badges.

  11. Using a combination of #MPCHC and #BeMyAI I thought I'd take a screenshot of the tennis match and see what image description I got out of it. #AltText response included in post.

  12. Our neighbors gave our younger daughter a birthday card. I used #BeMyEyes to describe it and it was even able to read the handwritten note! #accessibility #BeMyAI #AI

  13. Most of the time, I can't get the screen portion of #BeMyAI to work because of the empty, secondary app that seems to linger in strange ways. Can sometimes minimize it but I think it still has an odd and adverse affect on the output. Very weird design. That secondary app appears to be responsible for global hotkeys.

  14. Having to use #BeMyAI desktop app to work out what some things are, as they can prove interesting in some cases.

  15. Yet another Be My Eyes for Windows shortcoming: users cannot upload or provide extra pictures in an ongoing conversation, unlike what Be My Eyes for Android and iOS do. Textual questions can be asked, but no more pictures can be sent. And, apart from that, how does Be My Eyes help with pictures on the web or on social platforms? It seems not to have been implemented.

  16. Fact: Regardless of the operating system used and despite the claims made, Be My AI hasn't yet switched to the new GPT-4O platform. For instance, when asked, Be My AI says that based on its latest update, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra hasn't been released. However, when accessed on the web and on the Chat GPT website which is based on GPT-4O, it can process questions about S24 Ultra.

  17. @bemyeyes Thanks for releasing the long-awaited Windows app. But why isn't the response displayed as normal text? Currently the response appears as a list item, below the Your image item, meaning one can't navigate around or review it via normal cursor movements. Users should resort to their screen readers' Copy last spoken item to copy it to the clipboard and paste it somewhere else. Not a good development decision IMO.

  18. Just spotted on #BeMyAI that there’s now a "more" button that allows you to share a link to the chat with someone. Is this new or have I completely missed this previously? #BeMyEyes #blind @bemyeyes

  19. so, now that describe with #BeMyAI is already available on #Android, is there a way i can store descriptions on the images in my photo gallery and have it read by #Talkback? on #IOS this is easily done by #voiceover labeling. is there an equivalent with talkback? #Blind #Blindness

  20. Ok so for all my fellow #blind #android users as of this morning #BeMyAI properly supports images being shared to it for description. @mastoblind

  21. This is the Llava:34B LLLM (local large language model) running on my #MacBook Pro describing a #screenshot from #BBC News. This, to me, is as good info as #BeMyAI would provide using #GPT4, so it goes to show that we can do this on-device and have some really meaningful results. Screenshot attached, #AltText contains the description.
Lately, I've taken to using this to describe images instead of using GPT, even if it takes a little longer for results to come back. I consider this to be quite impressive.

  22. This is a photo of the plant corner in the office my partner and I use at home. Each plant has a story, and their lives in our apartment are important to me. Remember when these kinds of posts seemed just mundane? now they've become restful all things considered. Alt text provided by #BeMyAI #BloomScrolling

  23. I think it's cool that I can have people sending me photos and that I can utilize something like #BeMyAI to give me a gist of the photos, especially over the last couple days as I'm a part of a text messaging group consisting of my family. Now, if only there could be a way to have #AI do at least short video descriptions.
