There are ceremonies taking place today to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Here is Richard Dimbleby's 1945 broadcast recounting what he saw there. The BBC initially refused to broadcast it, thinking something so horrific could not be real, and only relented when Dimbleby threatened to resign.

Fritz Klein - the doctor who declared the death of the victims of the execution on 1 January 1945 was tried in the Belsen Trial by a British military court at Lüneburg. He was sentenced to death and hanged at Hamelin prison on 13 December 1945.
