Freddie #banged on the apartment door with the flat of his hand; his sister Ruby opened it.
"Ms. Callender brought us a big pumpkin!" he said.
Ms. Callender was their babysitter.
Together they scooped out the pumpkin's slimy parts, saving the seeds for roasting. Ms. Callender made triangle eyes & nose, plus a mouth & two vampire teeth.
She lit a candle with a piece of paper she held to the stove element till it caught fire. This went in the pumpkin. It was perfect!
