  2. On this day in 1923 Pats O'Connor of Knockaunatee, Castleisland, Co Kerry joined the National Army. He would be killed by a trap mine a couple of kilometres from his home, in three months' time, along with four others, during the Civil War. He was serving in the Intelligence section of the Dublin Guards in Kerry. His death would be avenged by tying prisoners to mines and blowing them up in 3 nearby places during the same week #Knocknagoshel #Ballyseedy #CountessBridge #Bahaghs
