nginx -s reload может не применить конфиг
Пока идёт бинарный апгрейд nginx, systemctl reload nginx не применяет конфиг так, как вы думаете: в лучшем случае к половине процессов сервера, в худшем — вообще никуда. Код возврата ноль в обоих случаях, в error.log пусто. Что именно у вас — решает одна строчка в юните: -s reload бьёт по pid-файлу, а он после USR2 принадлежит новому мастеру; kill -s HUP $MAINPID бьёт по старому, а тот конфиг вообще не перечитывает, и это описано в документации nginx — в разделе про обновление исполняемого файла, куда по другому поводу не заходят. Это первая из пяти проверок. Я взял пять ходовых утверждений про reload в nginx, померил каждое на стенде — и получил результаты по обе стороны: три подтвердились, два развалились. Развалившиеся оказались интереснее. Не работают ровно те страшилки, что про слушающий сокет: listen ... reuseport бесшовность не ломает (inode’ы сокетов до и после reload одни и те же — их держит мастер, а не воркер), паузы в accept при reload не существует вовсе (msleep(100) стоит ПЕРЕД QUIT), а значит и арифметика про переполнение backlog на reload — про нагрузку, а не про reload. Зато подтвердилось то, о чём почти не пишут. keepalive_min_timeout оставляет уходящего воркера в живых, и тот обслуживает запросы, которых в момент reload ещё не существовало — по старому конфигу. А ngx_close_idle_connections не различает направление соединения, поэтому каждый reload сбрасывает пул keepalive к бэкендам — и с 1.29.7 это касается всех, у кого есть блок upstream : пул там включён по умолчанию, 32 соединения на воркер. Правило из первой части — «соединение, открытое до reload, нового конфига не увидит» — приходится переформулировать: держится старого конфига не соединение, а процесс. В конце — Traefik, у которого reload’а нет вовсе, и который умеет не применить конфиг своим способом: кольцевой буфер на одно сообщение и двухсекундный дроссель. nginx release-1.31.3, traefik v3.7.10, все опыты в репозитории, запуск одной командой.

Working through more of my backlog and skim/read through Masks, the first PbtA game I've really looked at in detail. Super cool game with a lot of flavor and mechanics for pushing story and characters forwards! Unfortunately not really that into superheroes so dunno if I'd want to do a campaign with it or find a different PbtA style game in a setting I prefer.

Du schuldest keinem Entwickler, keiner Steam-Bibliothek und schon gar nicht dir selbst 120 Stunden Pflichtgefühl. Wenn's keinen Spaß mehr macht → weglegen. Fertig.
Spielen ist Hobby, kein Zweitjob. Der Endboss ist manchmal einfach das eigene Ego. 😌

Kleiner Reminder: Der „Backlog" ist kein Schuldgefühl, sondern eine Sammlung. Niemand fragt dich, ob du deine Bücher alle gelesen hast – warum also bei Spielen?
Du musst Baldur's Gate 3 nicht „durchhaben", um Gamer:in zu sein. 200 Stunden Akt 1 und dann doch was anderes spielen? Völlig legitim.
Spielt, was euch Spaß macht, in eurem Tempo. 🎮

Worked on reducing my RPG backlog by skimming Modiphius's Dishonored RPG (probably a humble bundle pick up?). First time seeing Modiphius's 2d20 system which I found pretty neat, if a fair few moving parts. The rest of the RPG I didn't find too interesting tbh, felt like not as good Blades in the Dark.

Ich hab neulich einfach ein Game nach 12 Stunden weggelegt, weil's mir keinen Spaß mehr gemacht hat – und siehe da, die Welt dreht sich weiter.
Spiele sind Hobby, kein Pflichtprogramm. Genießt das, was euch Freude bringt, und lasst den Rest staubig im Regal stehen. ✌️

Чей это бэклог? Почему приоритизация это политика, а не методология
Полгода назад я опубликовал на Хабре статью про «бэклог проблем» . Перечитал ее, остался недоволен. В ней я описал симптом и предложил лечить его инструментом, который в моей собственной практике превратился в оружие для защиты от заинтересованных. Главного я тогда не назвал. Откройте свой бэклог задач. Сверху вниз они отсортированы по RICE или по вашей кастомной модели, у каждой задачи скоринг, все аккуратно, все обосновано. Этот список выглядит как самый рациональный документ в компании и как ваше профессиональное суждение: вы посмотрели на все возможные позиции, взвесили и расставили именно в таком порядке. Так вот, почти наверняка это не ваш список и не ваше собственное суждение. Это набор компромиссов, который вы себе присвоили, часто даже не заметив и не осознав этого.

I made the first step to clearing my backlog of books, comics, games, shows and movies. I listed everything I have bought in these categories so that I can check them off the list. I separated them into their respective categories divided by physical and digital media.
Next step is to actually finish all this stuff or at least start them to see if I even want to finish them.

Hey #ttrpg GMs how bad is your backlog of unread RPG books? I've got something like 100+ pdfs sitting in a 'To Read' folder! Humble bundles and bag of holding bundles have been very generous but I'm not doing a great job keeping up.
I'm thinking about doing some sort of backlog burn down challenge to encourage me to at least open the PDF and see what's in there...
