Should I stay monogamous or should I cheat?

Obv I’m talking about knitting!! I’ve been working on my Triangulum temp blanket and have almost finished January. I’ve had a little taste of my Beekeepers Quilt due to forgetting my data journal when I stayed at my parents last night… but I’m wondering about another blanket: The Kaleidoscope. I’ve bought the yarn. Do I cast on and alternate or stay faithful and finish one first? What would you do?

Hi everyone, how are you getting on with the #AYYKCAL23 ? I’ve completed the first row of the Triangulum blanket and have started coming back on myself. That means I’ve got a few completed hexagons now. The technique for tightening the centre is inspired and so satisfying!

My furry companion, Diesel, has been keeping me company as it’s far too wet for him outside! Have you got any knitting companions?

I’m making the Triangulum blanket first. Each triangle is a different day in 2021. They each have a grey border, then the internal triangles show the hottest and coldest daily temps.

I’ve had a little break from finding new blanket patterns… partly cos I’ve had Covid and have been knackered, but also cos I now have three on my list (complete with yarn bought) to make next year and I seem to be unable to avoid temptation when I’m tired 🤣

On my hunt today I found two gorgeous baby blankets. Both use two different coloured yarns in differing ways to stunning effect. The first, Go To Baby Shower Blanket by Marly Bird holds two different coloured yarns together whilst crocheting, giving a marled effect. The second is knit on the diagonal in My Favourite Baby Blanket by Alicia DeHart. She uses two colour fading yarns in alternate stripes to get this lovely blended striped blanket.

The sun has finally been shining in my neck of the woods. Though it’s been icy cold. This Old Forge blanket is the perfect thing to make on such a day. The sun emblem mirrors the weather, and just look at those warm yellows/burnt oranges against the grey for a stunning and warming contrast. Stephen West has done it again with this pattern!

Double Vision is two color held double for each square and Hue Shift Afghan is two colors in alternating stripes within each mittens square. Here’s the next blanket pattern, knitted this time. It’s called Persian Dreams (by Jenise Hope) and it’s been in mine for a good few years now! It looks beautiful with either a white or a black background. I think the black makes it look like stained glass windows. I’m really hoping I can make one of these this year too. Gathering wool (well #Scheepjes Colour Crafter acrylic) to get started on my #TemperatureBlanket as my contribution to the #AYYKAL23 #AYYKCAL23 #AYYCAL23 I’m going to use the #TriangulumBlanket pattern by Ellie Jones , and edge each triangle with a row or two of grey, before doing half in a colour for the hottest temp and half in a colour for the coldest temp each day.
