  1. Keeping Neurodivergent Resources Free For All:
A 7-Day Fundraiser... with daily updates

I believe no one should have to pay to be autistic.

That principle has guided my work from the beginning, ensuring every article, podcast episode &resource I create remains freely accessible to anyone who needs it. It's not just a nice idea—it's essential for our community.

    The Impact of Your Support

Just in February 2025 alone, I talked directly with:

17 newly diagnosed autistic adults who shared that these resources helped them understand themselves for the first time
11 families raising neurodivergent kids who found practical strategies to support their children
12 therapists and caregivers who improved their support approaches based on authentic autistic perspectives
7 researchers developing better understanding of lived neurodivergent experiences
3 teachers creating more inclusive classroom environments

Hundreds reach out directly for help every year.

THEN there are the tens of thousands who read or listen. Silently.

Each of these connections represents someone who accessed these resources without financial barriers… as it should be.

    The Current Challenge

In my 70s, I survive on government assistance. And I'm grateful.
But with inflation and recent cuts to my government housing, medical, and food subsidies, I'm facing a financial crisis that threatens this work.

I need to raise $150 in the next 7 days to cover Internet service and other modest but critical expenses that allow me to continue creating content.

Thank you to the 9 Founding Member paid subscribers who already make this possible. Your support means everything.

If just 15 more people contributed $10 each (or any combination that works), we'd reach our goal.

    Ways to Help

Make a one-time contribution through this
    1. 7-day Ko-Fi fundraiser: lnkd.in/gKjeVEkA
    2. Become a paid hashtag#subStack subscriber, to support access to all content for free. For those who truly need it: lnkd.in/gcz_qDQK
    3. Share this newsletter with others who might value this work

This fundraiser runs until 3/13. I'll post daily updates on our progress toward the $150 goal.

    Why This Matters

Your support today means that tomorrow... someone just discovering they're autistic? They won't face financial barriers to understanding themselves.

That's what drives me... gets me up every morning… in my 70s… to keep doing this work.

I believe no one should have to pay to be autistic. If you've found value in what I share, please consider supporting this principle in action.

    In gratitude,
    Johnny Profane Âû

P.S. All content will remain free regardless of the outcome of this fundraiser. The principle stands, even when finances are tough.

  2. A reminder I feel the need to add to these stories.

While the “authority” that blamed Neurodivergent people for others bullying us was called a “teacher” in our youth, the problem doesn’t change in adulthood: only the names of the positions of authority.

  3. @isaacs Oh man. It’s the hardest damn thing to just sit and listen without the troubleshooting gears turning. I mask it but it suck’s not to let it out.

Also happens when mgmt is sharing stuff — today in fact! — and I’m asking tons of clarifying questions. I’m trying to visualize the thing they’re talking about and they’re just not precise enough. Hehe thankfully the tolerate my instinct and will advise if it’s too much.

  4. CW: Overwhelming work task rant

Hopefully by end of February we'll be over the stuff where I can't control much. It sucks. right now I feel like crying, completely overwhelmed (a bit hangry too) & anxious. #ActuallyAutisticAtWork #ActuallyAutistic #AutisticAtWork #AutisticStruggles

  5. CW: Overwhelming work task

I'm compiling an overview document for the big anxiety-inducing task I'm currently leading and it's already a lot of items. No wonder I've been feeling stressed, overwhelmed & anxious. So many are ongoing discussions/issues, many I'm not sure how exactly they'll be solved. Total lack of closure for MONTHS! It's entirely too much!

  6. CW: Insomnia, Sunday scaries

Experiencing the worst night yet... Woke up to go to the bathroom after ~2.5h, been largely awake since then 😭
Considering calling in sick tbh... 😬 Or at least try to work from home.

  7. CW: Sunday to Monday scaries, work, anxiety

Not knowing for sure that it'll be all ok just absolutely messes me up as an #ActuallyAutistic person. It preoccupies my brain, it's hard to shake when I'm not at work & it's a constant source of anxiety. Of course my tolerance for unresolved things is also lowered when I don't sleep well... ☹️

  8. Super pleased to have authored a company blogpost on establishing and facilitating a Neurodivergent Employee Resource Group. Totally new experience for me!

Having an ND ERG is a great way to explore how neurodiverse employees experience the workplace, how to make it better for them, and the unique benefits they can bring as well.
