its a really interesting choice to only send ausalert alerts to ios 26.
It seems that only 79% of phones have been updated to it, so 20% of Australian apple users WON'T get these alerts!
(I checked the ausalert site, and, yes, you need ios 26 to get these life saving alerts :( https://www.ausalert.gov.au/receiving-alert/compatible-mobile-devices )

my Telstra prepaid expired at 11:59 this morning - its a 365-day plan and I wasn't going to leave the house today, so seemed pointless to refill it as the phone never rings (apart from spam) - its purely an internet device.

And... I did not get the Emergency alert!
Um ah!

(One way to stop my phone from making horrible noises! :) )
