More space science funding in Germany - a DFG #Sonderforschungsbereich on #exobiology will be set up while the one on #astroparticle physics gets an extension:

Once again with #experimental #astroparticle #physicist Dr. Matthew Szydagis, in conversation with #EllieInSpace about #UFOs / #UAPs, obliging us to take more seriously possibilities of communication with #extraterrestrial #intelligences.
From his #TEDx talk we know that Dr. Szydagis doesn't rule out ideas of communications via #subatomic #particles, originating from the #past or #future.

"Is Time Travel, Especially Into the Past, Possible?"
#experimental #astroparticle #physicist Matt Szydagis speaking at #TEDx #Schenectady #NY #USDiscussing a range of possibilities & problems of #TimeTravel, emphasizing the #paradoxes, #Einstein, and #quantummechanics. No mention of #entanglement. Agrees that our understanding should include #subatomic particles as #message carriers.

🙏 Thanks to @NFDI and members of the Institute for Astroparticle Physics @KIT_Karlsruhe, hosting KATRIN, who offered participants of #CoRDI2023 an interesting and pleasant insight into the research of one of our scientific communities in PUNCH4NFDI: #astroparticle physics

My companion on the journey to #Vienna today for the #TAUP conference (Topics in #Astroparticle and Underground #Physics). I have been looking forward to reading this for weeks. I read when I travel, so my pace is very slow to work through books.

Had a great time at the #Canadian #Astroparticle Physics Community Meeting. I especially enjoyed the two theoretical physics talks looking at new ways to explore #darkmatter and the discussions about how Canada might evolve its funding models to provide and project long-term stability for planning, executing, and completing very large and necessary experiments (e.g. with 20-30 year full lifecycles).

On the road to #Kingston #Ontario for the annual Canadian #Astroparticle #Physics Community Meeting! We were a little delayed out of the gate due to duties at #SNOLAB.

Just migrated to astrodon, so it's time for an #introduction:
I am Juehang, a Postdoc at Rice University. I work on the direct detection of dark matter with the XENON and Windchime collaborations.
As with any experimentalist I do all kinds of stuff, but day-to-day most of what I deal with is data and statistics-related. Also, since I work in astroparticle physics, not everything would be strictly astronomy-related.

Summer Blot is a #neutrino expert. She works for the IceCube experiment as an #astroparticle physicist. Her contribution here speaks for itself. #astroparticlephysics

The #IceCube experiment has reported two candidate events for an astrophysical tau #neutrino
To appreciate how impressive this #paper is: the tau neutrino was only first observed terrestrial in 2000! Before that, it was effectively a hypothetical particle that we were pretty certain existed 🧐🤓🤩🥳 https://icecube.wisc.edu/news/research/2023/01/icecube-reports-first-detection-of-candidate-astrophysical-tau-neutrinos/ #Astronomy #astroparticle #physics (pic: from the web site)
