Had a tough couple of weeks and it's not over yet, but today at least a day of rest, cleaning my home and finally some painting in my art journal.

I love Tom’s Studio pens but the two Studio Pocket fountain pens I have BOTH have pretty terrible leakage problems. Yesterday I finally bit the bullet and got a full-sized Studio Fountain Pen, only because I don’t want to give up all my flex and semi-flex nibs from them, and that pen has a different converter.
And only now in writing this do I pause to consider that maybe I just got a bad batch of cartridges (not converters). Hmmm. Well. Perhaps I will write to the company and explain the PENDICAMENT. They’ll probably throw some converters into the package for me, they’re nice like that.
Also: I’m running a little low on Carbon Black so I’m trying Sketch Ink’s EMMA, which is green and mossy and full of win, I love it so much!

Schetsjes gemaakt met referenties van de site Line of Action. Best heel handig. Ik vond de pagina wat saai, daarom heb ik de negatieve ruimte ingekleurd met aquarelverf.

This is my first rose, and also the first time I did a pencil outline and then watercolored it in (versus my usual pen and ink sketches filled in with watercolor). I’m happy with it; I sketched it standing in my neighbor’s garden. They’re total sweethearts and gave me previous permission to draw their flowers. Hollie Happily Haunts Your Flowerbeds. Greg sat on our porch across the street. We’d just had a great talk about some of my chronic illness issues (which are still unfun, but the painting helps a lot). Art journaling is my forever jam.

How do I stay motivated when learning something new? I had to answer this WordPress prompt because of what I am going through right now, and what I thought about this morning is totally me!
I paint flowers, lots of them. I am currently trying to figure out this whole Etsy keywords SEO thing. I woke up and wanted to meditate and have a gratitude morning. Instead, I opened up my computer and headed over to my shop. AND, I felt hopeless. It has been 6 months, and I have a few sales. I like my work, but I know it’s all in the presentation. Have I created the art that people want to buy? Then there are titles, keywords, and the SEO that frankly, I am sick of.
Then something in me said, ” We have to make this work. There is no if.” This is my dream. I am putting this out there in the world and seeking guidance. I trust and believe the answer will find me! In that moment, I went back to last year’s work and added new pieces to my shop. Then I made a few changes to my keywords and switched out some frames. It was beautiful!
Inside, I felt like a kid in a candy store, or better yet, that kid who is told we are going to paint today, here are the tools, have fun!
How do I stay motivated when I am learning something new? I feel what I feel, give myself a pep talk when I need it, and get back in there and do what I love! Most importantly, I look for a positive lesson that I can learn from and move forward with.
Do I want to share my work with the world? I do! That is the biggest positive reason to move forward. And that made me smile. Here I am. I am going to go for a stroll and splurge on that dessert.

Creating Your Own Rituals for a Fulfilling Life
How's life? I have been painting houseplants and came up with the words "I'm here, and I'll always love you!" When I look at the moon and the stars, I feel these words. When I'm walking among flowers, during lovely spring mornings, I feel these words. When I say to the flowers," Good morning, my beauties, we are going to conquer the day," I feel these words. Today, I want to say I like my work better than yesterday! My strokes are loose; there may be a splatter from a project of the past. Had to go to the doc’s this morning because my ears have spent the last week being bozos (I’m fine, thankfully it’s just allergies). The view out the window is one I’ve never captured to my liking, but today’s is fun and I officially dig this one.
Despite me being the only person in the waiting area and rows of empty seats behind me, twice a person chose to sit opposite and facing me, under the window, so that I was continually looking up at them and then down at my paper. Both of them had this funny moment of awareness, glancing up from their clipboards, when they realized I was in fact drawing the tree behind them, not them.
Greg: It’s so cute! Wait, what is THAT?
Me: Oh, that’s the jar of cotton balls in the exam room. Observe, how I have seamlessly blended the view of the gas station with the view of cotton balls.
Greg: <nods> Obviously
