Congress is close to a bipartisan deal that could reverse the Trump administration’s renaming of several southern Army bases back to Confederate leaders. The House-passed defense bill would block Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s move and restore the 2020 changes that honored a more diverse set of figures. The Senate’s bill would cover three Virginia bases, but Georgia senators want their two bases included.
