My first “map”. Well, my first published map. As part of an archaeological field dig in Falmouth, Massachusetts, we excavated corn mounds that had never been found as a whole field. With a theodolite, we took height measurements every 10 cm. I plotted them using ArcTIN on a pen plotter using Arc/INF0 5.0.2 on a VAX/VMS mainframe at the UMASS:Boston Graphics Lab.

I just found my original map portfolio. Here’s a sample.
Back in the ARC/INFO days, I wrote all my maps in AML. This one was for a noise barrier study in Cincinnati when I worked for the Institute for Local Government and Rural Administration (ILGARD) at Ohio University.
