Tying to fix my parents' in law's apple stuff. They cannot access the appstore on their #iphone (running under an appleID), to get an app, because the #appstore app wants an appleID / #apple account #password - which they no longer know. They can log into their #macbook as a user (same appleID) with their mac_book_user_password
Do I understand it correctly:
they can choose a new #appleid #appleaccount password (to a access the appstore etc.) using the mac_book_user_password to #authenticate ?

I now have an extremely minimal #Dock 😂 and have switched off all #iCloud services.

I am still logged in to my #AppleAccount, but cannot extend the screen to my #MacMini, even though everything looks like that should work. Any ideas? 🙈

Sometimes someone asks me why, being a longtime #Apple person, I don't use #iCloud or an Apple Account for anything significant.

The answer is events like what's happening right now. I just logged into the main account on my Mac. There's an alert that there's a "problem" with my Apple Account. Open System Preferences > Apple Account, I'm informed my Apple Account is locked, and I'm prompted to enter a password.

Funny how the new Passwords app isn't supported here.

So I enter my #AppleAccount password. Denied.

Far as I can tell, I've just been arbitrarily locked out of my Apple Account (which is basically as old as is humanly possible) for no discernible reason.

Not the first time: I was locked out of my AppleID for 19 months in 2011-12. No explanation given (despite numerous attempts to reach Apple: they even CHARGED me to speak with them.) Then, a year and a half later, it mysteriously started working again. I guess.

Anyway, that's why.
