Maven 3.9.10 released. One fix: When running a build using Java 24 with an earlier version of Maven, there were many errors and warnings because many dependencies were incompatible with a Java 24 runtime.
In Maven 3.9.10 those got updated, resulting in Maven 3.9.10 now has a far better support if you want to run your builds on Java 24.

@fledermama Du solltest #OpenOffice durch @libreoffice ersetzen. Seitdem #Oracle vor Jahren #SunMicrosystems aufgekauft hat wird OpenOffice nur noch sehr langsam weiter entwickelt. Mittlerweile ist OpenOffice bei der #ApacheFoundation gelandet, was aber nichts am Entwicklungsfortschritt ändert. #LibreOffice

I suggested ( and others did too ) that the Apache Foundation have it's own fediverse presence ( run by the foundation, with confirmed @apache.org mail users ) for projects and users, but they did not go for it.
But, I'm glad to see @ASFMavenProject here on @fosstodon none the less!

What is driving those projects out of Open Source licensing (almost)?

* difficulty in acquiring new customers?
* lack of connection with broader communities (e.g. #LinuxFoundation #EclipseFoundation #apachefoundation )

Maybe the #ApacheFoundation should just unpack the pun the HTTP daemon's name was based on, and re-brand as "A Patch-y Foundation"

Can anyone explain to me why #OpenOffice still exists after these years of making no progress at all? Seriously. I do not understand why the #ApacheFoundation is still spending (minimal) resources to fix some bugs and keep the project alive while in the end it's going nowhere. No Linux distribution known to me ships with OpenOffice. And what's the point, when there is #LibreOffice? 🤷

@jeffcliff if it's a not-for-profit structure, again, it depends. If a government owned the copyright on a package of software, and decided to free the code and hand it over to a stewardship body like the #ApacheFoundation that operates at a global scale, that wouldn't be privatizing, more like "commoning" or even "collectizing". "Internationalizing" doesn't really fit here, even though you could argue that's what's happening.
