A mosquito swarm is composed of 1 to thousands of males #flying in loops next to a visual marker, waiting for the #flighttone of an incoming female. The recorded species swarms at dusk till they can't see the marker anymore (field) or till they get tired (lab).

I am also interested in #Anopheles #mosquitoes that transmit #Plasmodium parasites which cause #malaria. I study #PopulationGenomics of these #vectors to find #CrypticSpecies and signals of #NaturalSelection which sometimes turns out to be not so natural (e.g. caused by #insecticides). Understanding patterns of #GeneticDiversity in these insects can help us better control them.
