MY "13 years ago", though, was the release of the first full animatic of our pilot episode. Which has, through, later decisions, become three episodes. I also had to break up the original one-hour pilot into smaller chunks to publish it on YouTube.
And semi-coincidentally, I broke it in more-or-less the same places as the 3-episode breakdown. SO... these videos roughly correspond to animatics for episodes 1-3.
VERY rough work, obviously. These are animatics. This was what we delivered to supporters of the first "Pre-Production" Kickstarter (on DVD). It was actually a bit more than we promised. I had originally said we'd do temporary voices for it.
But in fact, by the time we put this out in early 2013, we had already recorded the real voice work for the episode, so I included that. This version also used upgraded storyboards, where I composited in the best-available character concept art drawings from Daniel to fit the shot, wherever possible. There's also a mishmash of other techniques -- edited photos, Blender animatics (for the moon shuttle in particular), and so on. It's uneven. And SOME of the minor voices are temporary.
Of course, the real purpose of an animatic is not for fans, but to use as a guide for production.

As you can see, I am still working on producing these. It is the first segment that I just completed animation on, which is now our 22-minute pilot, "No Children in Space". The titles is a quote from the voice-over that laments that, up to this time, there had been "no children in space", which of course, changes during this episode.
