After Trump attacks hush money judge’s daughter, DA seeks broader gag order

The prosecutor in Donald Trump’s upcoming hush money trial has asked the judge to clarify whether a gag order issued for the former president this week bars him from publicly attacking the judge’s adult daughter — and to expand the order if it doesn’t.

 Manhattan District Attorney #Alvin #Bragg made the request after social media posts by Trump attacking the #daughter of New York Supreme Court #Justice #Juan #Merchan for her professional affiliations with Democratic candidates and politicians.
 As Trump’s #April15 trial date nears, he and his advocates insist Merchan is influenced by his daughter’s job and her ties to Democrats.

 Bragg’s office wrote in a letter filed Thursday and unsealed Friday that in light of the attacks, the judge
“should make abundantly clear that the [gag order] 🔸protects family members of the Court, the District Attorney, and all other individuals mentioned in the Order🔸.”
 It also said that Merchan should “♦️warn [Trump] that his recent conduct is contumacious and direct him to immediately desist♦️” and that ignoring the warning should warrant sanctions.

Manhattan DA suggests one-month delay in Trump hush money trial

New York prosecutors preparing for the expected March 25 start of Donald Trump’s first criminal trial threw a wrench into that schedule Thursday by suggesting a 30-day delay, responding to complaints from the former president’s lawyers that evidence had been unfairly withheld until the 11th hour.
 Manhattan District Attorney #Alvin #Bragg (D) notified the court that his office had just received “approximately 31,000” pages of additional records from federal prosecutors in New York, who previously investigated the 2016 #hushmoney payments that are the basis of Bragg’s charges against Trump.
 “In light of the distinctive circumstances described below, the People do not oppose a brief adjournment of up to 30 days to permit sufficient time for defendant to review the” newly shared records, the filing said.
 Trump’s legal team has asked for a 90-day delay to review the evidence, and urged sanctions be imposed on prosecutors for allegedly not fulfilling their legal obligations

Scoop: House GOP targets Manhattan DA

1. In the short term, Republicans are discussing firing off letters #summoning #employees of the #Manhattan #DA’s office for #sworn #testimony, according to a GOP official familiar with the plans.
The potential request comes amid speculation about why the hush-money case was suddenly resurrected after being back-burnered by both state and federal prosecutors.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plans are not final, noted that #McCarthy, a longtime Trump ally and close friend, is “fully supportive and pushing folks to be #aggressive here.”

2. Manhattan DA #ALVIN #BRAGG himself is in the GOP’s crosshairs, though it’s not clear if he’ll be immediately summoned.
“He should come testify before Congress,” Rep. MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE (R-Ga.) told us and other reporters, launching into a lengthy tirade about “fake charges” meant to be “used in Democrat ads” against Trump.

One of Alvin's technicians owns a steam deck and he's sent me a picture playing the game on the deck of R/V Atlantis, which is the same class as the ship in the game. Both things -that the game plays well on the Deck, and that it is being played next to Alvin, on its way to the East Pacific rise, where one of the game's dives takes place, are (quite literally) incredible news to me.
