A new study from the @uniinnsbruck and Eurac Research shows how humans have altered the Alps since 1850. The study regions include the Stubai Valley and the municipality of Sölden, as the LTER sites located there provide a lot of socio-economic information.

Lake Gossenkölle is an alpine lake located at 2,416 m above sea level. The University of Innsbruck is running a research station on its shores since 1975 (https://www.uibk.ac.at/fakultaeten/biologie/alpine-forschungsstaetten/gossenkoellesee.html.en). Research tasks comprise the monitoring of water parameters and studies on ecological processes and various groups of aquatic organisms and, most recently, viruses.
