Jesienią na ekrany polskich kin trafi „Witajcie w Hope” – najnowszy projekt Na Hong-jina, południowokoreańskiego twórcy głośnego „Lamentu”.
Reżyser łączy w nim kino gatunkowe, elementy science fiction oraz horroru, angażując do projektu międzynarodową obsadę, w której obok azjatyckich gwiazd znaleźli się Michael Fassbender i Alicia Vikander.
Akcja filmu osadzona jest w prowincjonalnym, nadmorskim miasteczku Hope, które na skutek niszczycielskich pożarów lasów zostaje całkowicie odcięte od reszty świata. Kryzysowa sytuacja i izolacja zbiegają się w czasie z serią niewyjaśnionych, drastycznych ataków na mieszkańców. Choć lokalna policja początkowo przypisuje incydenty agresywnej zwierzynie, z czasem okazuje się, że społeczność musi stawić czoła tajemniczym istotom o nieznanym pochodzeniu i intencjach.
Azjatyckie kino z hollywoodzkim wsparciem
Na Hong-jin, który w 2016 roku zdobył uznanie krytyków na całym świecie mistycznym thrillerem „Lament” (The Wailing), tym razem stawia na międzynarodową kooperację.
Na ekranie zobaczymy uznanych aktorów z Korei Południowej: w rolę komendanta policji wciela się Hwang Jung-min, a towarzyszą mu Zo In-sung oraz Hoyeon, dla której występ w „Witajcie w Hope” jest pełnometrażowym debiutem po ogromnym sukcesie serialu „Squid Game”. Obsadę uzupełniają hollywoodzkie nazwiska. W miasteczku jako „nie do końca mile widziani goście” pojawiają się między innymi Michael Fassbender („Zabójca”, „Steve Jobs”), Alicia Vikander („Ex Machina”), Taylor Russell oraz Cameron Britton.
Pozytywny odbiór na Lazurowym Wybrzeżu
Produkcja miała swoją światową premierę podczas tegorocznego Festiwalu Filmowego w Cannes, gdzie brała udział w Konkursie Głównym. Tytuł spotkał się z przychylnymi opiniami prasy branżowej. Krytycy zwracają uwagę przede wszystkim na sprawną żonglerkę konwencjami.
Recenzent brytyjskiego BBC zauważa, że film płynnie przechodzi od współczesnego westernu, przez thriller, aż po kino science fiction, zachowując przy tym surowy klimat produkcji z lat siedemdziesiątych. Z kolei dziennikarze „The Hollywood Reporter” oraz „The Guardian” akcentują wysoką jakość efektów specjalnych, oryginalne projekty istot oraz fakt, że obraz Na Hong-jina ma szansę jeszcze mocniej ugruntować pozycję koreańskiego kina na globalnym rynku.
