Any system like this is going to be abused by someone in power. It’s irresistible to them. Sure there’s a legitimate need… but the deterministic nature of the abuse is too high to justify allowing any government no matter who is running it to use any kind of instant alert broadcast.
In the event of an actual emergency it’s far more likely our governments will leave us to die. Or give us misinformation.

The U.S. State Department has issued a Worldwide Caution alert, advising Americans across the globe to exercise increased caution amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
In the alert, the State Department warns that the security environment remains “complex” with the potential for unforeseen escalation. It says U.S. diplomatic facilities—including some outside the Middle East—have been targeted and cautions that groups supportive of Iran “may target other U.S. interests overseas or locations associated with the United States and/or Americans throughout the world.”
The advisory also warns that flight cancellations and periodic airspace closures could disrupt travel and urges Americans abroad to follow security guidance from their nearest U.S. embassy or consulate and monitor official travel alerts for updates.

Communicating without internet – first steps (#Meshcore)
TL;DR I've set-up a #meshcore repeater and bought 2 companion devices to communicate (chat) with people without relying on the internet. My setup works, kinda, but damn, that's a whole new level of rabbit hole. Am I prepping? You never know when your country catches a dictatorship which turns off the internetz (like in Iran).
