In February 2022, #Tom #Homan went to the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Florida, and took a seat among a group of young #white #supremacists.
Homan — who oversaw former President Donald Trump’s brutal anti-immigrant regime as acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement
and who under former President Barack Obama was responsible for record-high levels of deportations as the head of ICE’s deportation branch
— had been invited to speak at the "American First Political Action Conference".As HuffPost first reported at the time, Homan claimed he was unaware of what the #AFPAC was all about
— his assistant had booked him at the event, he said, and had likely confused America First, the event’s organizer, with another right-wing group.Sitting at the table, waiting for the event to begin, Homan got out his phone and looked up Nick Fuentes, the leader of America First, and came across a bunch of articles labeling him a “white nationalist.”
💥This didn’t prompt Homan to get up and leave. He was skeptical of the label “white nationalist.”
After all, he knew what it was like to be unfairly labeled a bigot and a racist during his time overseeing ICE. Maybe Fuentes had suffered the same injustice.
But then he read that Fuentes had praised Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Homan got up from the table, leaving the conference before it began.

In case there's any real doubt as to whether the reactionary intelligentsia and their would-be stormtroopers actually talk to each other, this brand new photo couldn't really make the connection much clearer:
On the left is white nationalist impresario Jared Taylor (or, as I like to call him, Nazi Thurston Howell), who is responsible for one of the most prominent "intellectual" white nationalist websites in the US as well as a major annual conference.
On the right is Gregory Arthur Klaunberg* (aka Rainhart Gregory Arthurson**), a neo-Nazi who figures prominently in the article I posted last night.
Seems the two of them came together at Nick Fuentes' AFPAC, because duh.
Anyways, yeah, Nazis do read books. A lot. Their ideas are totally disconnected from reality, but that doesn't make them less interested in reading heady books and articles. On the contrary, I'd say it's actually part of the draw.
* Yes, that would actually be pronounced "clown-berg" in German. I have no idea how he pronounces it in English.
** You need to be extra suspicious of fashy assholes of any stripe who adopt the pseudonym "Rainhart" or similar. Former Identity Evropa leader Sean Casey, for one, used the pseudonym Reinhard Wolf when he was working as a "journalist." If you open Wikipedia and type in "Reinhard," the first person who comes up is Reinhard Heydrich, also known as "the Butcher of Prague." After Heinrich Himmler, Heydrich was really the next most important figure in the execution of "the final solution" under the Nazi regime. Sure, it's possible that either Klaunberg or Casey just like the name, or borrowed it from their great, great granddad, or something else. Possible, in theory, but unlikely, and plausible deniability is their whole deal. As I said, they do read books. History is not lost on them. They just interpret it in the cruelest ways imaginable.
