Giftiger Schimmelpilz im Mais entdeckt

Forscher an der Universität für Bodenkultur in #Tulln (#Österreich) entdeckten einen #Schimmelpilz, der zu den giftigsten der Welt zählt. Und das auf einem #Mais-Versuchsfeld im #Tullnerfeld. Es ist der erste Nachweis von #Aflatoxin B1 in Österreich. Er stammt eigentlich aus heißen Ländern.

Die alarmierende Erkenntnis wurde in einer Studie veröffentlicht. Die Institute für #Bioanalytik und für Nutzpflanzenzüchtung an der Universität für Bodenkultur in Tulln berichten darin über den ersten Nachweis des Schimmelpilzes, der zu den krebserregendsten natürlichen Stoffen gehört und schon in geringen Dosen Leberkrebs auslösen kann.

Der nachgewiesene Wert liegt über dem von der EU festgelegten Grenzwert für Mais. Allerdings, so der Leiter des Institutes für Bioanalytik an der #BOKU Tulln, Rudolf Krska: „Für dieses #Gift gibt es eigentlich keinen #Grenzwert, jede noch so kleine Spur ist gesundheitsschädlich. Aflatoxin ist die giftigste Substanz, die überhaupt von der Natur hervorgebracht wird.“

„Die #pathogenen, also gesundheitsgefährdenden Mikroorganismen wandern pro Jahr rund drei Kilometer Richtung #Polkappen. Sie kommen aus heißen, tropischen Ländern. Drei Kilometer scheint nicht viel, aber über Generationen gesehen müssen wir uns darauf einstellen, dass da noch mehr kommt, nämlich Gifte, die bis jetzt nur in #Afrika vorgekommen sind. So war das auch mit unserer Studie in Tulln.“

@tinker I'm hoping you are using roasted peanuts that have been heated up enough to kill #aflatoxin. Also, make sure you clean your grinder on a regular basis. (I was just reminded of aflatoxin a few months ago, since I'm attempting to grow my own peanuts again).

@BrambleBearGrrrauwling So yeah, please read the posts about #Aflatoxin. One has to clean and dry the peanuts properly to prevent mold contamination.
