So the per-device Google Advanced Protection Program (APP) option (separate from the account level protections) forces some features, with the following frustrating side effects:
It forces medium-level call/text spam screening, so you can't opt for stronger protection
It's all or nothing - it has the following security features that aren't exposed to the user, that can't be enabled unless you want the full set of settings levels APP applies:
- Total USB protection (charge-only when locked)
- Forced 72-hour reboot
- JavaScript JIT protections in Chrome
- Auto-reconnect prevention for insecure Wi-Fi
- Total sideloading block
So the only way I can keep this device from rebooting every three days, and get stronger call/text spam protection, is to disable APP ... but then I lose the other bullets above. 😭

I just tried updating the #TorBrowser via @fdroidorg on my #GooglePixel, but it was blocked by the new #AdvancedProtection feature in #Android. Incredible. Guess that's a #security feature that won't actually fit my threat model.
