I honestly wish there was a #Blind accessible accounting course. I know there are blind accountants and its a field that's possible to be in and do well, but learning how to use Quickbooks is a major pain when you don't know what you're doing and there's nobody to teach you how to use the programs you need for the job. #Accounting, #Accountants, #Jobs, #Employment, #Disability

Should you trust accountants?
Well it seems the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants doesn't trust (with reason) aspirant accountants.
From March it is ending online exams to become an accountant, reverting to the pre-Covid practice of in-person exams (and invigilation) in March in response to a series of scandals about cheating & the use fo AI-assistance in its professional exams.
So much for professionalism!

For #Accountants and #Bookkeepers of #Mastodon, do most companies use Excel for accounting/bookkeeping? or is quickbooks the main driver? if excel is used, is there some sort of template specifically made for accounting and how would I gain access to it? I'd like to know how to make 4 documents and credit and debit each, statement of financial position, Income statements, Statement of cashflows, and invoices. It would really help because I'm #Blind and Excel is very #Accessible with #ScreenReaders, and I would love to get back into accounting if at all possible, as it was my favorite subject in College and if I could gain employment in that field, I'd gladly do it again. With Quickbooks and other software services, each one uses screen readers that allow a person who can not see the visual elements to input the proper information into the Balance Sheets, statements of Cashflows, Income Statements, preparing invoices, and all Tax forms, etc. If you know a blind person who is trained in accounting, bookkeeping, or tax preparation, I highly urge you to hire them, because they can provide the same quality of service a sighted person can, just in a different way. TLDR: Looking for PEPPOL complying software.
The roundabout way of asking:
The EU will require PEPPOL invoicing BS soon - starting January 2026 in Belgium, apparently.
I currently use Zoho Invoice to create all my invoices & keep track of payment & expenses for my business (sole proprietorship / side gig teaching yoga & not making that much money). Zoho Invoice is **free** to use for me (few invoices per year).
I cannot find anything about Zoho being compliant with this PEPPOL bs, and being that it is just me and I like things just so, I would like to have enough time to transition to a new software if I need to.
Anyway, my question: which low cost invoicing software comply with PEPPOL? In which I can also track expenses, and create invoices that look the way I want them to look?

The f**king accountants crappy portal software won't let me add invoices without f**king emailing them with a full "contract" and they then add that organization to the system manually like it's 1992. Can I not add a client company myself? Can I not just invoice someone as a one off for freelance stuff? I had accounting software that could do that in 2012. WTAF? What am I paying these fuckers €200 a month for? 🤬😡🤬😡

Reduced my thoughts on Copilot+ PC, as announced, to a piece for Forbes.
TLDR: Also we should think about compliance with things like subpoenas and how completely can anything ever be deleted with such a system.
The more I think about it, the less this seems like a well thought-out product for pros. Dreamed up by coders that already have had their life’s work sucked up by GPT through #Github.

I reckon Copilot+ PC is going to be a product that an entire class of professional just simply can't purchase or use for work. Thinking of #attorneys, #accountants, etc.
Surely the "features" will be able to be disabled, but can anyone reasonably trust that?

I'm seeking a tax advisor in the Leeds area for what might be a complicated self assessment for this year.
If anyone has any recommendations for a friendly, local advisor that is knowledgeable about property income tax and good at explaining it to clueless individuals, I'd be grateful for any reccomendations.

Corporations HATE when even some small percentage of us use a FREE option to complete the BS we shouldn't have to be bothered with in the first place.
The entire tax preparation industry is a fooking scam. It's one reason US tax code is the nightmare that it is in the first place ... to keep CPAs and such in the money.
